I’ve done this on every set of every exercise since i read it, it just makes so much more sense for me.
Sweet. Finally… Punisher put up some squat magic. I am indeed a squatting maniac and this is sooooo up my alley.
Some time ago I hit a goal of 10x10 with 225, so I’m hella ready to crush the 315. I appreciate the down to earth vibes all throughout your post.
I struggle with irrational thinking a lot. A lot of times, I have it in my head that if I’m not the best at some one particular thing I am not anything. I’m not the strongest at squatting. So therefore im not strong.
Untrue. Obviously. Sure I’m not a record holder, I aspire to be, can be, but as of right now I’m not. However. I’m strong. And I’m stronger than the yesterday’s self who made a fuss about not being strong.
Hah! My exploded knee DID put a small delay on that.
Glad you could get something from this. Regarding being the best: you can always take a page from powerlifting and hyper-specialize. Just like how you can hold the world record in the jr-flyweight 100% lifetime drug free left-handed methodist division, you can be the best at YOUR thing. For me, I take pride in the sheer, unbridled running skullfirst into brickwalls insanity I bring to training, being too stupid to know when something is a bad idea. NO ONE is going to outcrazy me, haha.
My strength has ticked down over time, my weight has dropped, I hit lifts in the past that I never realized, at the time, were the best they’d ever be, but I keep finding ways to have victories.
Oh can understand. Those explosions suck wherever they wanna form at. Been trying to coax my deadlift into some new personal bests, but my body is definitely telling me when it’s wanting to do whatever it wants, WHEN it wants lol
That absolutely got a chuckle out of me. Left handed part got me good too lol
I do appreciate you explaining what powers you, or I guess…elements of the mental side of training for you.
Sorry for the late reply as well.
