I’ve gone from just over 100lbs (101-102~) october 2007 to 123lbs currently. I’m 17… turning 18 in December. 5’2".
While it doesn’t sound like alot… it sure made a difference to my appearance!
You can see comparisons here if you want:
My strength has pretty much doubled and tripled all over the board. I started out on a TBT routine for wrestling… including Oly lifts… etc. Didn’t get much gains from that… I switched to a split routine in June… and that’s when I started seeing faster gains.
I did not make optimum progress though. Not even close. I know I definitely could’ve done better… being short just saved me there!

i feel stronger but no where near done, my legs are coming up see you at 225lbs.
building a house, one brick at a time.
Nice work, man.
I hear you on the “long way to go”, I’m gonna keep on till about 240lbs more or less by July 09, and then cut down to a leanish size. Ultimately I’d like to walk around at 220-230lbs, lean.[/quote]
We have the same goal man. I’d like to be walking around at a lean 220-230 lbs at 5’10". Guestimating that I’ll have to get up to around 250-260 before I diet down. Should be able to get there next year, I’d like to lean out for this summer after I hit about 230 and maintain it for a while.
I’m up from 120 when I started 3 years ago, first 2 were done very less than optimally. Happy to say though that now I’m doing things right and have been for most of this year. Once I pass 220 (which will happen today probably thanks to Thanksgiving, I’m 219 currently) I’ll have gained 100 lbs.

Damn, 100lbs is impressive.
It’s gonna take me at least another 3 years to get to my goal, methinks.
Decent, still figuring out how I’ve been responding. It’s been difficult to balance, breaking down muscles, then being recovered enough to get something out of Jiu Jitsu the next day.
I’ve put on about 10 lbs. since really getting back into bulking at the start of September. People think I’m weird because I’m just ALWAYS eating basic, plain muscle foods all day long (nuts, fruits, meats, etc.)
It’s paid off though, because my strength has gone up, and my body fat has really stayed the same (although I was pretty lean when I started back up).
Hoping to hit 200 by summer and I’m about 180 right now.
Went from 160lbs to 187, now I’m down to 177 and I look leaner than I did at 160, bulking again starting in a couple days.
Bench went from 245-295.
Deadlifts went from never doing them, so maybe 185, to 405.
And overall, training and eating way smarter now than I was at the beginning of the year.
A year of up, then down, then back up ending just ahead of where I started the year. I felt as big and strong as I ever have in the middle of June. Then my wife had our first baby and I didn’t see the gym regular for 2 months.
I have been back at it hard for almost 3 months and I think I have just reached where I was in June in regards to strength, probably down a few pounds but a bit leaner I would guess.
Current - 6’3", 215 lbs, 30 years old
PS - having a child is well worth whatever set backs I went through, plain and simple the best experience of my life!
Up 25-30 lbs. I’ve unlearned a lot of the ridiculous groupthink I’ve picked up on this site and now my progress is accelerating. I think I’m going to reach my current weight goal of 230 this year. Or die trying.

In January I weighed 179, and now I weigh around 200lbs; so a good 21 lb increase in weight since then, hopefully another pound or two before the year is out.
I have been trying to add lean mass (instead of just “bulking” and gaining too much fat) which has been a very slow process. I gain 5-10lbs, then maintain for a few months, then gain again. It’s boring, but it’s working. I’ve been able to stay leaner then I though I would be able to at this rate. I’m probably around 12-14%. Gonna stick on this pattern till the end of february when I should be 210ish. Then I’ll maintain for long enough so I can cut down to 198 for a PL meet.
My training has been up and down. I started the year nursing a massive lower back injury and have re-injurred it about 4 times.
But with reading (T-Nation), seeing the professionals at Cressey Performance and just being smart around things; I think that 2009 will be a MUCH better year; with many things to accomplish.
Deadlift:
Jan (couldn’t do), Now: 385x5 for 2 sets
Bench:
Jan: 185, Now 290 (wow, first time I saw that!)
Squat:
Jan: (couldn’t do), Now: Front Squat 270x5 for 2 sets

Mind elaborating on what you had to unlearn ?

Total body training is good. Machines are bad. Bodypart splits are bad and are only for steroid users. You can put on significant muscle while maintaining “hawt abz.” Squatting is all you need for legs.
Everyone with significant hypetrophy is juicing. Significant hypertrophy happens quickly. Overtraining is a significant concern for untrained newbies who don’t lift any significant weights.
I read through a lot of Rippetoe’s stuff and Dante’s stuff and things were clarified quickly.
Went from 195 to current 212-215. Heaviest I got was 222.
Had significant strength gains:
Dead went from 315x10 to current 405x10, 455x6.
Pulled 500 for the first time ever a month ago.
Squat went from 315x5 to current 425x5.
No idea what my max is but the ultimate goal is to be able to rep 500.
Bent BB row went from 225x8 to 315x8
Incline DB press went from 80x10 to 115x8
I’m happy with my strength and physique, but I’m not satisfied yet. My strength level is impressive to the average gym goer, but shit compared to the big guys I’ve been around. I’ve still got a long way to go before I reach my goals.
I really like the idea that this thread puts forth. I’m very optimistic and encouraged about the future after taking some time to reflect and evaluate my past year of training.
There are two weeks I can recall this past year where I failed to make it to the gym 5 days out of the week. I’ve learned more about training, and about myself, this past year than any year I’ve been alive. Consistency is key, and if I keep up this regiment with some minor tweaks, I’ll get where I want to go. It’s just a matter of time at this point.
I only discovered Tnation 3 months ago; I expect that the nutrition and training knowledge that I am getting from the community will make this next year the best year of my short training career. Plus there are some people on here that give me a good laugh.
I’ve gained about 18 lbs since June. Starting to carry a bit more fat in my gut, but arms, shoulders, legs and calves are looking much better. My back grows the fastest but chest lags the most.
I’d like to hit 210 and cut back down. I first used to say my goal was 185 and 8% (@ 5’7), but now I just want to see how big and strong I can get. I thought you guys were bullshitting about society caring more about abs and shit, but I’ve had recent experience with this and…it makes me SICK. Bunch of fat fucks telling me I need an 8 pack?!
I have a ways to go but am enjoying learning what stimulus I respond to best. I like being my own mechanic and my own chemist.
And you all have been a great resource, so thanks to anyone that has ever given me feedback.
EDIT: Dirty bulk gone awry. New jeans as proof. 1-2 inches added to waist in past 3 months. Hmm…I see you, Mr. Dirty Bulk! And I shall raise you…a cheesesteak, bitch!
