Right now, once a week I’ll alternate between 1 day of 10x10 squats and 1 day of 10x10 deadlifts with 70% of my 10rm (so squats week 1, deads week 2, squats week 3, etc). I go from 4 minutes of rest between sets down to 2 in the span of six weeks.
After the 10x10 squat day on Saturday, I train my legs by limping wherever I go until Friday.
do you know why someone would split this up into 2 days? If you just took out maybe one of those exercises, this seems like something you could complete pretty easily in 1 session. I see that you mentioned you could combine quads and chest, or back and hams together, but what would be the benefit of that? Quads and hams together, and then chest and back makes more sense to me, but I imagine there is indeed a reason to do it the way you’re talking about.
in june i opened a thread in rate my physique section. flipcollar said my upper body muscles were in good proportion but he’d love to see bigger legs.
so i decided to try something different and instead of using 8-10 reps, i started doing 20s.
first few weeks i came close to passing out and throwing up but i got used to it now. the worst part about is living in a two floor condo.
To maintain intensity. We’re talking about working big muscles that significantly tax the body’s overall reserves. This is why comparing it to having separate days for bis and tris is misleading–no matter how many sets of bis or tris one does, nor how intensely one trains them, they do not tax the body in a manner comparable to working Legs. (Upon completing their biceps workout, no one ever feels the need to lie on the floor to recover.)
