How Do You Squat?

I have my feet pointed at different angles depending on how I feel that day. Max effort with box (read mobile bench) at parallel - this is so I make myself go that deep. Dynamic days as far down as my knees will let me, which is way past parallel but not to the grass. Leg stance a little wider than shoulders all the time. I go narrow on the hack squat machine.

And I’m weaning myself off the belt. It’s great not using it, as I use it at the max reps now… soon not at all. I wrap one knee, and that won’t change, 'cause I don’t like the snakes in my knee to wiggle around. And I’ll share my wimpy PR from Thursday with you all: 335 2x1 I’m proud of it, 'cause I’m only going to get stronger. WOO HOO!

no bullshit here.
i’ve been doing sl squats for years now. yes i play ball in the cfl.
i hear the numbers that some of you guys squat and i’m impressed. i just don’t feel like putting 700 lbs on my back. just start with 135lbs for 20’s, i know you can do that. then just put in your time.
i don’t bullshit. i’ve got even better numbers on other lifts.[/quote]

What team do you play for/what is your name?

I squat olympic style (ass to grass, medium stance, high bar, near vertical back).

Concerning the single leg squats, brad cardozza does 405 for a single, so it is possible that mike does what he says, especially if he’s a pro football player.

Very wide, toes pointed out at about a 45 degree angle, I go deep enough to get the top of my hips parallel with the top of my knees. As per USAPL rules.

i squat oly style till my thighs touch my calfs.

can anyone tell me the difference in having the bar lower on ur back.

A lower bar position will allow the lifter to sit back more which will make him use stronger/bigger muscle such as lower back/glutes and hamstrings to squat. Trunk flexion will be easier since the distance between the hips and the bar is decreased. Most lifters can squat more using a low bar position than a high bar position.
