how do you not overtrain on Meltdown

I was thinking about starting meltdown when I’m done with 5x5 in a few weeks. Question: how do you train the same bodyparts two days in a row and deal with DOMS/overtraining? Is it just supposed to be a short duration program followed by a week off. Meltdown II seems a little more doable. Any thoughts? Did anyone have these problems with Meltdown? or GBC?

The weights you end up using for Meltdown are so light you really don’t have DOMS. You do however have a bucket full of puke to clean out after every workout.

You aren’t supposed to do the workout two days in a row. It’s a MWF schedule.

You can still overtrain doing a MWF schedule.

Paul is wrong, there are two workouts that are each to be done twice a week on Meltdown One.


The program is supposed to be followed for about 4-6 weeks. The weights are light and should not cause excessive DOMS or overtraining. But the timing of the sets and tempo prescriptions will have you breathing like a steam engine climbing Olympus Mons (tall volcano, not much air on Mars) after your second set. I haven’t puked yet, but…
