Hot Dog Eating Contest

Kobayashi can’t weigh more than a welterweight. Nevertheless, if you’ve got money on the event, you have to pick him to win the hot dog eating contest at Coney Island again today. Most of his competitors will probably outweigh him by an average of 100 pounds. The most obvious exceptions are probably his biggest rivals - the Korean woman who goes 100 pounds and the 60 year old man from Nevada.
The little dude is fairly muscular with low body fat. He must not be carb sensitive.
I think these food eating contests are a riot.

I’m thinking of going to see it.

Competitive eating is not a sport. Its one of the seven deadly sins. Enough said.

Definitely not a sport. But pretty awesome and funny.

Yeah, not a sport but a spectacle.
If you go, see if you can successfully heckle the contestants and “get them off their game”. Maybe reference their nasty breath or potentially painful bowel movements.

MTV did a True Life: Im a competitive eater. It followed 3 competitive eaters including that asian that wins it every year. If you watch the episode, its like an hour long, youll understand why he always wins. You also get to see how all 3 of them train for for it, very interesting. Wait till you see the asian dude in training…i wish i could eat 22lbs of food in one sitting.

The Tsunami (Takeru Kobayashi) did it again! 53 3/4 hot dogs in 12 minutes for his sixth consecutive title.

American Joey Chestnut almost pulled off an upset this year but fell short with only 52 dogs.

Over the last couple of years, Kobayashi has started lifting weights. According to his blog, his max lifts are:

bench: 172.5 kg (379.5 lbs)
deadlift: 225 kg (495 lbs)
squat: 185 kg (407 lbs)

At 173 cm (5’8") his weight now fluctuates from 160lbs to 191 lbs. In 2001 when he first entered the Nathan’s contest, he weighed in at only 110 lbs!

That’s pretty damn impressive.

Here’s a picture of him from last year showing off his abs.

Funny promo video.

I’ll have to look for the MTV special on how these freaks “train”. This guy’s genetic make-up must be amazing.

I gotta see this guy’s diet. 6 small meals a day? doubt it…

Actually, kinda makes sense given the hunter/getherer way of stripping a carcass after the hunt.
