Honest Workout Critique?

I agree. Eat less than you burn. My point was though exercise speeds up your metabolism so you can eat more and lose fat. Also not every calorie is the same.

Not misguided at all.

Actually know a lot about diet.

“you have to eat at a caloric deficit to lose weight”

Tell that to the 2bn overweight people in the world. They need more knowledge on diet than simple statements to change their life. They also need to learn about various exercise techniques.

Yes we all know this.

Think about what you just wrote. “Speed up your metabolism” means that your caloric requirements have increased. Maybe your maintenance goes up 300 calories. You need to eat more than you were before to maintain now. You need to eat less than your new maintenance level to lose.

It’s like the game of limbo. You can move the bar up or down, but you still have to go underneath it to win. If you manage to set your caloric maintenance needs really low, it will be hard to go underneath without crashing. If you have high caloric maintenance needs, it will generally be easier to do the limbo. It really is that simple.

Protein needs go up and protein has been proven to fill you up longer than carbs. I eat more carbs when I exercise but not a whole lot more.

So you adjust accordingly. Burn 1500 calories and increase your food intake by 1000 or so if you want to lose fat.

251g steak = 679 calories

Better to exercise and enjoy your steak knowing you burnt off more calories or not exercise and still eat the steak?

Tell a fat person they can eat juicy steaks and cheese and still lose fat tends to win them over.

Yes protein is good to eat. Carbs when you exercise can be part of a winning strategy too. And I like the “not a whole lot more” thinking. This is a good way to think if you’re trying to lose weight.

Yes this is basically what everyone is saying. You need to be in a deficit to lose weight no matter what, but you can raise or lower your maintenance needs. You can also improve the fat to muscle loss ratio by doing things like lifting instead of sitting and eating steak instead of pork rinds.

But the deficit must be achieved if your scale weight is to go down. There is no way around this.

Deficits can be achieved by different methods though. If your weight is constant on a 3500 calorie a day diet you can eat 4000 a day and lose weight by adding in exercise or change the composition of calories so less get stored as fat.

@twojarslave, I applaud your efforts. But like @T3hPwnisher and @alex44938 before you, you are going down, my friend. It’s just a matter of time. This guy’s a Terminator, and he absolutely Will. Not. Stop. until you are dead.

You need to stop looking at pubmed, it’s doing you no favours.

You need to do some research

This is kind of like informational crowd sourcing in a niche.

No need to try to be the smartest guy in the room. Especially when you’re butting heads with pro BB’rs, a handful of MD’s several national and internationally ranked athletes, etc.

Just drop your 2 cents and be done with it.

What I need to do should have no bearing on you continuing to be an asshole. Stop visiting pubmed, you have zero idea what you are doing. Which is okay but you are annoying everyone in the process.

There’s also a chance some people are silly enough to take you seriously. In which case, consider this a community service and stop visiting pubmed.

Speak for yourself. I know a lot about diet and your negative comments say more about yourself than anything else.

Hope your day improves.

Except pro bbs on roids are not great examples for people to follow and people who bulk and cut aren’t doing their health any favours in the long run.

“stop visiting pubmed.”

So people should not read data or only read stuff that you agree with?

The most ignorant often think they have the most knowledge

Thats an interesting interpretation of what I wrote. This is the entire point though - understand what you’re doing/reading first - you have demonstrated you don’t have this skill.

The knowledge is just making you an asshole. Stop visiting pubmed - stop being an asshole.

Reading increases knowledge. Try it sometime. Then you won’t feel the need to call strangers ahs for knowing more than you.

Good luck.

“understand what you’re doing/reading first”

And what makes you so clever?

You haven’t said anything intelligent at all. Telling people not to read research is daft advice.
