Here’s the problem…

What if person A and B are both eating at a +500kal surplus? Then

Is false

A still weighs less

What the fuck? A would weigh more, seeing as he gained more muscle…

What’s your concentric leg press max?

1 Depends on type of training
2 fat loss would be more

Fat loss is the main aim of training

Not really (especially if they’re untrained)…

But A put on muscle… And therefore GAINED WEIGHT…

What the fuck?
Curious what your numbers are if that’s the case

Over 3 months you can’t build much muscle. Person A could lose 5kgs of fat though if they are starting at a position where they can lose a fair bit of fat. So if they gain 2kgs of muscle the net loss is 3kgs.

Do you not understand what the word SURPLUS means?

Yes I do. Do you understand common sense?

261 pounds - that’s where the topic started.

Why are you purposefully ignoring this question?
Your lifting numbers… Dead/squat/bench etc…

Common sense says that you won’t lose weight in a 500 calorie surplus. Common sense also says weight training does not burn 418 calories per day…

Oh dear, that’s why I agree that diet is 80% diet.

What crap are you on about?

The topic started at 261 pounds starting weight.

I will now bow out

Ok bye

What have you accomplished training in this style
Phsique pic, lifting stats, etc…

You are misquoting me. If someone wants to lose weight then they want to lose fat.

Science says diet is the main priority but exercise plays a contributing role.

Start another topic if you want to discuss something else.

Alright @kaibee I’ll give this a shot since you seem sincere, albeit misguided.

Nobody is suggesting that working out or making good food choices is detrimental to any weight loss plan. I lifted like crazy when I dropped a lot of weight. The point you seem to be missing is that your maintenance calorie needs will change, depending on what you do or don’t do, not to mention a host of of other factors.

As others have said repeatedly, you have to eat at a caloric deficit to lose weight. This is true…

No matter how much you do or don’t work out.
No matter how muscular you are or aren’t.
No matter how genetically gifted you are or aren’t.
No matter how fat you are or aren’t.
No matter how much junk food you eat or don’t eat.

Again, regardless of ALL OF THOSE OTHER FACTORS, you are either eating at a level that drives your scale weight down, or not. Weight loss cannot be achieved without a calorie deficit. End of story.
