So physiology doesn’t play a role in age?
Not nearly as much as we think it does. If people grew up and lived in a society were it was taught that age is irrelevant to anything. we age, cause we believe and have been conditioned for thousands of years that we have to age.
What if we were taught that age is merely a number and we only age if we allow ourselves to age. I feel that sort of mind set would be seeing people live farrrrrr longer than they do now. there will be a day where people live in the hundreds.
Younger people get more out of low rep work than older lifters do.
I’m talking 50+ at a minimum, of course, but it’s still true that once you’re in the “masters” division, as it were, you’ll benefit more from 5 reps than you would from 1-3 reps due to the decrease in muscle mass as you age. Many people who train older athletes train find that training in 4-6 for all strength work is far more effective than hitting singles and triples.
Note: I’m talking about natural lifters, who don’t have that extra help to get them to build muscle, recover, and replace hormones.
