Homeless Wiggers?

I watch as he adds a cash to his bankroll in his pocket.

Not long ago a bum, one I had never seen before, asked me for money for some food. I was eating some mixed nuts at the time and offered them to him. I figured if he was really hungry, he’d be happy to have some food. He got pissed and cursed at me.

There also used to be this same guy sitting on the freeway exit with his empty gas can claiming his wife and kids were waiting in the car that ran out of gas on the freeway. Yet, if I offer to drive him to a gas to fill his can, as opposed to just handing him cash, he would refuse. These guys make me laugh.

True, this guy I know told me about how he offered a homeless guy some food and the guy just got disappointed. I really think a very large portion of homeless people are either people who do this maliciously to avoid working for their cash, or drug addicts who no doubt still don’t want food in place of money. Seriously, homeless guys earn more than cashiers so they have to be on drugs or just taking advantage of people’s charity.

It’s even worse in thirds world countries that have a lot of tourists. Little kids have skits planned out and shit. Except there I don’t know about them. Here poor people are lazy but there? Maybe a lot more circumstance involved.
A study done by a religious organization showed that the average panhandler makes $40k tax free. Please give money to an organization that actually helps the homeless learn a trade, help with their mental dissability, and get off the streets.

My friend, I was not in any way trying to be disprespectful towards you, I apologize if my post came off in that way. In the last line of my post, “you” was not actually addressed to YOU per se, but to the people who view the word, nigger as acceptable because a certain minority of blacks use it.

Hopefully, that clears up the confusion.

Why does the reliability of the organization have anything to do with it? This just shows that this country is very giving toward people in need. Lets just start to direct the giving toward an organization that will actually help the people in need. There is more accountability with a non-profit than an individual on the street corner.

If an organization with a vested interest in a topic does a study on that said topic, it may be biased in some way. Not always, but it certainly is possible. I am not implying that the study is wrong, but I would like to view it for myself.

Thanks.

I’m not saying that the “majority” of blacks use the term, but it is WIDLEY accepted by a verl large percentage of the population, as can be attested to due to the popularity of the Chapelle show. Again, the double standard isn’t that we don’t think it is an offensive word, or that there is no black people who are offended by it, it’s that it is widley accepted if a black person uses it, especially in certain situations and contexts (i.e. comedy). I have yet to find a person who is offended by the Chapelle show, I am sure some are, but I would bet my life, those offended would be far outnumbered by those who think it’s hilarious. I showed the clayton bigsby skit to a black co-worker who had never seen the chapelle show and she fell out of her chair laughing. The word itself is not offensive, it is all context.

Excuse me, but how widespread is your connection to black communities? I have lived in Arizona, Michigan, and Boston, all in “black” areas. Out of the three places; in Arizona very few of my friends EVER said it, along with even less of my Boston friends. I would say a considerable amount of people in Detroit said the word consistently. I really, really doubt you have been around enough different subcultures to tell ME that
it is WIDLEY accepted by a verl large percentage of the population
. That has not been my experience, nor has it been the experience of friends I have had conversations (on this topic) with. The very fact that the black man you are referencing is a TV star and not a personal friend, shows your lack of real life interaction with blacks. No, rappers, comedians and reality stars do not count.

There was a lady a few years ago in downtown Toronto who panhandled for years and she was known as the “shaking lady”. Everyone assumed it was parkinsons…wrong. Can’t remember the exact details but basically someone followed her one day and saw her get into a very nice car, told the papers and they started to investigate. Turns out she lived in a beutifull home in a nice part of TO and was not sick. I hope she burns in hell.

I agree that the organization could have a vested interest. It was not a scientific study, but a random survey of the people that came to them for help and that was the average. I believe the $40k also included their welfare check. I did do a quick search on Google, and there are a lot of weird studies out there on this subject. I would think with the economy the way it is that giving is down.

I am not trying to say that being homeless is good, making $40k a year, because I could not live that way. I just think that instead of giving cash to someone on the street, we could actually help them by giving that money to an organization that can keep an eye on them and truely help them.

Wow, misunderstood again, and an emotional reply questioning my “connection” or what you really meant to say, my understanding of black people. WHAT I was saying, if you cared to hear it is that the Chapelle show is WIDLEY popular, which means it gets good ratings, which means it has a lot of PEOPLE watching it, and since it is directed towards a black audience, I am also assuming a lot of black people watch it. Therefore with my huge brain, I can deduct that people and also a lot of black people included are not overly offended by the word nigger as it is used very frequently in this very popular show and if they were that offended then there would not be a lot of people who tune in regularly to watch it. You get me yet? A LOT of people accept the word in certain situations. A LOT of black people accept the word in certain situations. You will never be able to argue that there isn’t a very large section of society who have no problem with the word if used in the right situation, again, it’s just a word, the intent behind the use of that or any word is what people should be focusing on. People are trying to get rid of a word, when they should be asking for hate to stop. I am all for less hate in the world, yet people who want a word to dissapear, are not always asking for hate to stop, they are simply asking for a word to not exist, which besides being impossible, is non-productive.

Not trying to continue a “debate”…BUT nothing I have stated in this thread has given root to the many assumptions you make about me in this post. What exact attitude do I have that is holding me down? Yet I’m the one accused of projecting my own image of you.

Anyways,I only pointed out that you jumped the gun in being critical of those who recognize the OBVIOUS racial(and derogatory) connotations of the word “wigger.” Those pointing this OBVIOUS fact out are read by you as being sensitive “race police” and emotional and angry. You did this, yet you recognize how that word can offend.

Maybe you’re the hyper-sensitive person…as I don’t know what else can explain your accusations and assumptions. But that doesn’t get me all upset enough to paint you in a negative light…as you ASSUME. I am capable of disagreeing with people without having to hate them…you should know this.

But maybe we are misreading each other because you came into this thread so focused on the not-so-obvious context of humor with the word…while I was addressing the obvious specifics of the word itself.

The misunderstanding seems to be yours Vegita. I certainly and I think others aren’t trying to change your mind as you seem to be trying to change ours. We explained our position when it comes to using that word and our rationale for not using it or being amused by it. If you wish to use it or be humored by it, it is of no concern to me, I have no vested interest in having you ‘not’ use it. You attempt to use a lot of misguided rationalization (in my opinion) some of which is kind of insulting to get your point across. You seem to be an intelligent guy but let your ego get the best of you and can come off in a ‘why can’t these dumbshits be smart enough to see it my way’ kind of way which is a little immature. There is no one right way, only our viewpoints from our experiences in this life.

Point taken, I will admit that I got emotional over what I percieved as others getting emotional. Which is why I hate (not hate, but dislike) emotional people, they do irrational things.

As I just responded to BB, allow me to backtrack for you as well. I see now that I let this topic get me emotional which says something about myself. I still feel there is a double standard that is standing in the way of true equality, but for now, I’ll just bow out here. the horse is more than dead and my tendencies towards over zealous responses could get the better of me here. My apologies for making more of this than what was there in reality.

LOL. It will happen again just like the other poster who insisted you were angry. I truly think some of these people simply can not get over their own ingrained stereotypes. No black person can raise an issue about blatantly racist actions without being labeled not only “hyper sensitive” but apparently pathologically angry most of the time…but again, they don’t even see that they do this.
