Well said. I will only add that “hip hop” styles are NOT related to race at this point. Anyone looking at “hip hop” style and calling anyone who dresses like that a “wannabe black person” is clueless about the world around them and how it has changed.
A Latino dressing hip hop is trying to be black? Really?
Most of you who call this style “ignorant” or whatever other derogatory names you have for it are obviously pretty fucking far removed from the culture that inspired it…which means fundamentally your opinion means NOTHING.
Most of you seem to be judging people based on outdated assumptions that would only be half true if this were 1990.
I suggest many of you wave at the world as it passes you by because if any of you judge me based solely on what I wear on a Friday night according to these purely “bleached white” concepts of pop culture, just keep it to yourself. You don’t have a clue.
Just for clarities sake if I was included as a target in your statement, I am more referring to the behavior of kids when acting hard and or mimicking the behavior and attitude and yes sometimes dress of those from the hood, generally latino and black youth. Acting as if they are a hardcore gangster when they live in an upper middle class suburb. I.e. the posturing behavior.
Style is style and is as varied as anything else and, yes the hip hop style is what is predominant in our culture right now for most people thirty and under and living in America. A trip to any local mall whether in LA or Pine Bend Utah will bear that out.
You are completely correct and I’ve seen many upstanding white, latino, black, youth who dress in a very stylistic hip hop fashion. My main points again being towards what I thought Vegita was complaining about white kids who act as if their from the hood hard and menacing as if the come from a hard and bleak existance.

This is exactly what I mean D, but yet again, Prof X makes it about something it’s not. There was no hint in anything I wrote that said I didn’t like hip hop. I even mentioned a couple of my favorit performers. I cleraly indicated the hard gangbanger attitude that accompanies the “dress code” was the problem. I think the world is passing X by as he angrily pounds his keyboard. Also X, your post was directed at me so don’t say it wasn’t. I was the only one bringing up this point in the last 5 pages. When a white kid leaves his rural upstate NY hometown and goes to college and comes back 2 years later as if he had been in compton for the past 10 years, it’s fucking wrong. It would be like if you lived in boston, and your buddy goes away to college in south carolins for 2 years and when he comes back he has a southern accent? In that situation anyone from boston would be like WTF?
