It may be a passing thing but I enjoy dragging this stupid old tire around the yard. Carrying the sandbag while pulling the sled is crazy hard. I wore some work gloves with the hammer yesterday. My hands felt much better.
Eco, you keep that up and I’ll have a spot for you down here at the mill. Good working!

Are you weighting the tire with anything or using it as “drag” while carrying the sandbag?

Either way it looks fun.
I stuffed a 25-30 lb rock into the tire. But the most resistance right now comes from the snow. The first pass over new ground is a bitch. Just keep snow plowwing. But after the first pass theres much less resistance from the snow. When the weather improves I will either stuff rocks all the way around the inside of the tire or put some plywood in the middle and load rocks onto it.

KMC, sounds like your job alone will keep you in shape. I hope to see you at 3am on an infommercial selling the ‘ladder method’ of training.

Willy, how much do you pay? Can I set my own schedule? And is the boss a jerk?

Eco, we start at less than minimum wage and work downward from there, we work sun up to sundown, and some of my peeps swear my photo is the illustration beside the word asshole in Websters.

I have actually shot a bunch of those.
Tony Little,Brad something or other.
some scary scary stuff.

and MJ I think that sounds like a great gig.
I will assume lunch breaks meal penalties
overtime and doubles all apply?
sign me up.

The kids hockey tryouts and 2 weeknight games are keeping me from lifting much this week. But tomorrow going to try some 10x3 for bench and deadlift. I want to try higher rep squats to workout any problems I’m having. May be a 10x10 just for a couple weeks. I have to get on the stretching, rolling and warmup wagon.

I’ll have to discuss this with my wife and get back to you.

You shot that spazz selling the air glider. Do you have to bite your lip just to keep from laughing.

I just ordered Pavel’s ‘super joints’ book from amizon. Anyone ever tried any of his stuff?

I have to bite my lip or go hide at work plenty, I have done court TV, talk shows,
some really funny shit.

But yes the infomercials are the lowest of the low. I did a pilates one, I think a bikini would have been the most clothing there.

I had a bootleg video of Pavel’s relax into stretching it was ok.

Going to take this week off. My oldest son is trying out for 4 different hockey teams. Going to try and play him up a division. He’s a very good defense player. Heck of a wrist shot. Not one free night this week.

Good luck to your son Eco. Y’all are going to be busy. It sure sounds like great fun

Good luck to your son… you will be back at 'er soon enough. Enjoy these times.

I saw a picture of Dan John doing that “sandbag on the shoulder while dragging a sled” thing. That’s pretty rough. I’ll try that as soon as I can drag the empty sled without getting light-headed.

Thanks Willy and Bunny. Bunny you play when you were a kid??
We are very mellow people except when it comes to hockey. My wife will have a few sleepless nights during tryouts. I’ll just have a few drinks.

MJ, that where i got the idea for the combo sandbag/sled drag. Let me warn you its tougher then it looks. I was working very hard. I may try carrying something lighter when I do this again.

Hockey is a serious sport,
I didn’t play but have friends who still do.

these are what we use at work for sand bags.
they are essential for location work
the large are 25lb sand the small 10lb shot bags.the correct way is to carry them on your shoulder 1 per side. If you carry them by the handle its like a farmers walk,
but you get tired faster throughout theday.

typically you do two on one shoulder and your using the other hand to carry something else or for doors, stair rails etc.

I do need to make a stagehand/grip work out video

Oh yeah, skated since I was 2, played competitive since I was 4, played “allstar” (I think they call it it “select” up here now) until I was 16 years old… left home and took a hiatus from organized hockey for 2 years, but still played with a mens league… joined the army @ 18 and played for them for 4 years.

Then… my 2 rugrats were old enough to play, so I shelved my pursuits to make time for them. That was 20 years ago… damn, time flies.

If I can lend any advice… make sure the kids are still having fun. And you too. Oh, and don’t puch out any coaches or other parents.

I wish I had played. My wife’s dad owns the hockey store in town and 2 of her 3 brothers played in college. My kids started late one was 7 and the other 6 but they’ve caught up and passed most of the other kids their age. My oldest son is tall and built very solid. He plays defense and is real tough in the corners and in front of the net. He’s hit a few this year top shelf from the blue line.

My youngest is a wing and quick as hell. He’s on the smaller side but is not afraid to mix it up with kids a head taller then he is. I’ve been successfull at keeping myself calm. But I can see how fights between parents could happen.

That’s awesome. I played defense and right wing as a power forward. I loved going in and smearing their big defensemen in their own corners… or tying up both of them trying to get me out from front of the net.

Be calm, enjoy the game for what it is… a game. I can remember as a kid seeing the stands erupt in brawls (well, this is Canada eh), and seeing my Uncle tossing guys over seats.

It is embarrassing as a kid being on the ice and seeing parents/ relatives scrapping.

Since its hockey, does the game stop so the players can watch the fight in the stands?

When the 2002 olympics were in town, the only event I saw was one of the quarterfinal hockey games. Byelrus vs Sweden. Awesome game, I think they consider it one of the best games of that olympics. I never got a chance to play hockey, and I can barely skate, but its a fast game and fun to watch.

And isn’t NH a Canadian Province?
