Yes BACK to it skid. I’ll try the foam roll tonight. Thanks
Stiff dead snatch grip. I see a lot of people using the snatch grip when doing lower back/deadlift training. What does it bring to the table? Is it mainly the traps. I’ve never try pulling that way. BTW, lot more volume in your workouts lately.
Just catching up eco - good to see that you are recovered from that back issue. I’ve been there and know how you felt.
Hel, it just adds more range of motion. I guess I could of stood on a cement block and gotten the same results.
Soldog, good to see you back. I hope all is well with you.
1/12
A1.squat 275 (50%) 6x2
A2.bench 205 (50%) 6x3

Just easing back into the workout. My balance is terrible with the reverse lunges. I’m listing all over the place. So they must be good for me. Took the kids skating at the neighbors rink for an hour or so after I worked out.
That’s a hell of a bench/squat combo you got there eco!
ditto on the bench squat…
kmc
good to see you have healed up… go get 'em!
Next week I start a 9 week program. Squat/bench on Monday and Friday, deads on Wednesdays. I will work in the ass. exercises after the main exercises. I tried to warm up with the over head squats again yesterday…I think its a losing battle.
There is a meet July 18th in Freeport Maine I want to compete in. Its a beautiful area. My family and I could take a mini-vaction.
OH squats are hell. I tried some with the bar the other week. Man that is a hard lift!
The meet sounds cool. Hope you do it Eco
All is well Eco - I’ve just been taking a break from alot of stuff for a while…
I’m reallyt looking forward to seeing you preparation for your meet in July! you need to go for it…

Is that double squat/bench a heavy/light or heavy/heavy or heavy/medium?

Is that the Guerilla Gorilla meet?
I live about 35 minutes north of Freeport.
What program are you going to compete in?
Incidentally, what do they do in the “Push/Pull”? Is that squat + deadlift?
Edit-- Nevermind, the Gorilla Guerilla is in May. You must be doing the Iron Bash, eh?

I did the Maine Iron Bash last year. There is absolutely no shelter there so you have to think about what you will need for the elements.
It is the Maine iron bash. Is is held outside?

SD, the push/pull is bench and deadlift. Freeport looks nice on-line. You think its a good place to take a few days with the family?

Skid, the workout is at joeskopec.com/extrussianpower.xls
I’ve changed the order a little and added some assistance exercises for core/balance. Tell me what you think of the workout. Good or bad. After the 9 weeks I plan on following the Wendler program until my meet in July.
Good luck with your training for the meet.
Just had a wrench thrown in the works. American powerlifting is having a push/pull meet in Manchester, NH. Just 25 minutes from my house. I have to do this one. But how to train for a push/pull a month away? Do you drop heavy squats for the month?

Talk to Chris Drummond on the other site. He can help you plan your pre-meet training. He’s getting ready for a push-pull himself as a matter of fact.
