I looked down - lo and behold - it was my belt buckle.
It was, oh, maybe January 2006 that I started to eat (albeit Dave Tate style). 205 pounds (and probably 20% BF) at the start. That was the last time I saw my belt buckle. Shoot, there were some days I didn’t even need a belt - when I was up to maybe 235.
After a real bad injury that stopped most everything for over six months (and lower body for a year), getting things back in order training and diet wise (no more Dave Tate style eating) and finally becoming brave enough to drop weight (body fat), I can see my belt buckle again. Current weight ~ 218.
I know, that’s only about ten pounds total gain over a 29 month stretch. I have learned how to eat properly (for me) and how to train properly (for me). If I remember correctly, my legs have almost three inches of growth, arms an inch and a half. Chest and shoulders, I have no idea.
Lots of failed ideas. That’s where I’ve learned the most. At 39, I’m still pleased. I am looking forward in the next five years to really make some hay (as they say in the Midwest).
