Meet Prep Week 4 day 2 Bench (ME)

2 Board Bench - up to 305x1
3 Board CGBP - 240x2x10 225x10

Lat Pulldown - 120x3x15
Seated OH Press - 135x10 145x2x10
Band Pushdowns - Grey - 3x15

I havent used boards in over a year. Some say there is no carryover with Raw lifters, and honestly I dont know but I am attempting to follow this program as written.

Of note. the 2 board bench was supposed to be with a regular width grip, but something didnt feel right, I was using a bar I never used before, and it seem that normal hand position is pinky on rings, but it felt to close to be my regular grip, after the 305 I measured the width between the rings on the bar that I used and the one that I normally use, the one that I used to board press was 2 feet 4 inches between rings, the bar I ususally benched on was 2 feet 8 inches…

It’s looking strong Matty. It’s no surprise that just a couple inches make a huge difference. On the plus side you will be using a bar you have never used before at the meet. I’ve always been a fan of getting out of my comfort zone.

Good job Matty. Looks like things are moving forward nicely.

Thanks fellas, Ill keep truckin

What are your goals for the meet?

It will be my first meet since getting injured two June’s ago. I’m really looking for small victories. Small PRs in squat and dead. As far as bench well I know I won’t PR but to get 315 would make me extremely happy

looking good - where is your meet this time

December 14th in Edison…

Squat - 315, 355, 385, 410, 425x1
Pause Squat 2ct - 315x2x3
Narrow stance - 205x2x12

SGHP - wut to 275x3

HLR - 4x15

6way - 10x10 12x10 15x10

Good day first time going this heavy on squats without wraps 425 was a bit high

With about two months to go, it appears your goals should be easy to capture. Keep it up and stay smart.

Nice squatting Matty. I would be lucky to do a 1/4 squat with 425.

Thanks guys…staying smart is always the hard part, but for once I am really sticking to the plan…I just hope for modest gains and above all the confidence to be able to continue PLing

Well, I don’t know if it’s smart but I’ve been getting fat and eating a lot lately which may be the factor helping push my bench up a little. Little steps to big rewards and confidence is easy if you know where your at. Seems to me powerlifting is all about your own path toward achievement and success which is always great because most of us powerlifters recognize that in one another and support is all around. Keep kicking ass brother.
