Well, decided to do the HIT instead of Frankies 5x5, just because I was getting sore joints and it taking longer and longer. I normally do 5x5 on the racklifts at 215kilo, but I did 180 for 20 and my lower back killed me, shrugs were ok and so was the pulldown, all done in 20mins.
This morning I was expecting to have some soreness, but no, nothing, feel a little disappointed as I thought I would have DOMS, am thinking to just chuck it in and go back to 5x5, but will probably finish off the week and asses from there.
Are you switching your goals for this transfer?
HIT is usually done with lighter loads to failure, are you doing this because the 5x5 loads were getting to be too much for your joints (I read the low back issue you have)?
What type of maintenance warmup drills and what type of recovery are you doing to keep or get healthy?
Was to give 5x5 a rest as it is killing my joints on certain movements, even though the results are looking goo. Been doing this for 8 weeks, and time in the gym is getting longer. Read about HIT and thought I’d give it a try, do a few warm ups, but the lower back pumps a bitch.
My view on bodybuilding for the past 15 years has been to get big, no other reason, I cut the fat by doing cardio3 - 6 times per week depending on the time of year.
