Something I’ve learned in my profession is that, whenever I say something is bad, it is up to me to include a way to make it better. It’s usually marked as the difference between “complaining” and “criticizing”, with the latter being far more productive than the former. It’s something I try to incorporate whenever I offer advice. Say what is bad, but include how to make it not bad.

It tends to make things go over better in my experience.

I agree with your point, I don’t feel it applies in this particular situation, but I will happily apologise if my first post comes off dickish.
