do you think it’s possible to do HIIT style training in a swimming pool or some other form of non impact / less impact than road running? My knee just wont let me run on it for more than 10 minutes and i really need to work my stamina for an upcoming fight
If i can’t get my stamina up in 3 weeks then i’m gonna have to pull out but i really don’t want to do that… any ideas? thanks
Yeah do fast laps back and forth for say 1 minute, then rest between.
I’ve done that myself in my parents pool. It’s a bit harder to do in a non olympic sized pool, but you just have to keep turning around and swimming the other way.
If you can find a shallow pool that is about waist deep, I’ve got a great circuit for you.
Swim freestyle - one length
Run forward - one length
Walk forward - one length
Walk backward - one length
repeat
If you can’t keep this pattern up for a given period of time, then every once in a while you just end up subsituting the walking for the swim and run. Once recovered, you go right back into this pattern.
Yes, it is great for fat burning assuming you work hard and crank up the intensity. It’s also refreshing and great for recovery as it limits the impact loading and eccentric contractions.
Yes, it is. Or, how about swim a lap then get out of the pool do 20 push-ups. swim another lap then get in 20 Jumping jacks keep on doing that for about 10-15 laps or more if you can keep up.
