I’m thinking of starting a fitness club at my Highschool this semester. Any suggestions on what I should do? I want to make this
club very open so people of all levels of fitness can come and join. I was also thinking of using the club dues to buy supplements for the club members to try out and use.
For the people who have gym memberships the officers and I can go train them. For those who don’t have memberships I can probably teach them some calisthenics, HIIT, and other kinds of stuff we can do without any equipment. Suggestions please?
Get some big tires, sandbags, etc. and you have some very inexpensive (if not free) equipment that you guys can train with. I dont think using the club dues to buy supplements is a good idea, especially at a high school level where that sort of thing could get you guys in trouble with the administration. Use the money to buy strongman implements, kettlebells, etc. and t-shirts.
Everyone loves club tshirts. You may need a faculty sponsor, maybe look into getting the weight lifting coach or one of the PE teachers to sponsor it and you guys might be able to pull off having access to the schools weight room after hours.
I was hoping to be able to use the school weightroom because it also has bumper plates and platforms.

Im sure that if you can find one of the coaches who is willing to sponsor your club and to supervise lifting there, he would be very interested in generating more strength sports interest at the school. If you get a coach involved, I would definitely drop any ideas about buying supplements through the club as this is the sort of thing that will keep a faculty member from wanting to get involved at all…the liability is just too high. Best of luck to you.
Sounds like a great idea to me. I wish my high school would of had a club like this. Make sure it is total open to all levels of fitness. I think a big reason why most people don’t lift weights is because at first they are very intimidating.
In case of liability issues I’m going to make a waiver for all of the members to sign when joining
