High Frequency Experiment

It hasn’t leaned me out at all to be honest, the main thing it’s done is improve my squatting stamina (which always used to be pretty poor before).

Soooo, I received some rather shitty news today that I’m not going to be able to pick up my medications (including anti-psychotics for a whole week aaaand i’ve just ran out) with this rather stressful development in mind I’ve decided to terminate this experiment a bit early and go back to my old, tried and tested 3 on 1 off powerbuilding type routine.

What have I learned from this?

The pros:

  • The speed at which you can make strength gains with high frequency training is nuts! (I’ve added about 30kgs to my squat 20 rep max in about 5 months.
  • If you miss a training day every now and then it doesn’t matter much at all since you’ll be smashing it again tommorrow!
  • You don’t need much volume at all to make progress (towards the end of this experiment I’ve typically only been doing 1 working set per day, yet I’ve still been making speedy progress).
  • It takes up very little time, like 15 mins per day towards the end.

The cons:

-I miss the pumped up, ready to rip the world a new one feeling I get from more conventional work-outs.

  • The strength gains you gain from this kind of training I find are not as stable as the ones I get from regular work-outs where I do 3-5 working sets + per work-out.

Anyways, it’s been a blast! Thanks to all the fellas who have liked and or commented in this thread…tis much appreciated…maybe we’ll do it again sometime:)

EXPERIMENT OVER!
