My doctor upped my TRT dosage about a month ago and initially I felt great. They prescribed 150mg/week up from 100 mg/week. I decided that was too big a jump so I only increased to 120mg/week. I slowly noticed feeling amped all the time, hot, flushed feeling. I noticed hearing my heartbeat in my head exercising. I checked my BP and it jumped up to 145/90. I’ve been totally normal for years. My Hematocrit was 46 near the top of normal before they increased my dosage. I ordered blood work about 2 weeks into the dosage increase and it didn’t include Hematocrit so I don’t know what it is currently. It has to be high. I’ve also been working out daily and with the heat, I’m sweating so bad I can wring out my clothes. There’s no way I was drinking enough water. I lowered my TRT dose today from 1.2mg to 96mg. I started drinking a ton of water and I donated blood yesterday to hopefully get this under control. Could High Estradiol cause this? I don’t think 58 is that high.
Here’s what I got for my last labs
Albumin 4.2
SHBG 23
Total T 953
Estradoil 58
Prolactin 9.5
Free T 207
Bioavailable T 398
I have to get them done again. The only other blood work I have is from may. I should have stuck with my original dose. I think most of my issues were from being a fat ass. I lost close to 30 lbs since February and I also stopped using edibles to go to sleep at night. I was taking pretty high dose edibles for a long time. I made a lot of significant changes all at the same time. Here are my previous labs after injecting 50mg 2x/week for about 3 months.
LH. .2
Estradiol 40
AST 16
ALT 14
Hemoglobin 15.2
Hematocrit 46
Total T 634
Donating blood can lead to markers worse long term btw as the body senses the drop in red blood cell count. What does it then do? Ramps up production. It can also wreck iron stores as well as ferritin.
To the OP, what is your body fat percentage and what does your diet look like?
If you aren’t getting daily fasted cardio in, you should start that.
You’re doing great, but I might want to inform you, if you’re not aware, that red blood cells may look normal, but blood viscosity might be something to look at along with vascular smooth muscles. BP affects individuals differently on trt with higher baseline hematocrit, BMI, and higher fat percentages. Monitor well and hope the very best. Welcome to the “age gracefully” team!
I realize now I should have lost weight before going on trt my bmi was right around 30% . I didn’t realize all the complications that caused but I just really struggled to stay motivated. Right now I’m 5’8 185. I started at 210.
I’m really concerned about my bp. I know my trt dose was way too high. I’m considering stopping all together until my bp goes back to normal. Any idea how long it takes? From what I’ve read it could take a few months. I was eating minimal carbs, almost no sugar except for fruits. The protein needs work. I have a lot of venison that I had made into smoked sausage and kielbasa that I was snacking on and it has a lot of salt. I’ll start watching fat and sodium more. I ran a 5k this weekend and did 30 minutes on the stair climber Monday, I’ll keep that up and try it fasted. Thanks for all the advice.
Since I lowered my dosage back to 50mg 2x/week my bp has been coming down. I was prescribed Lisinopril. I was taking 2 5mg pills once a day and my bp initially dropped to 135/80. This morning on 1 1/2 pills it was 110/75. I’ll probably be able to stop taking it pretty soon. My last total T was 678 and I just feel normal which is awesome. My weight is down to 178, so I’ve lost a total of 32 pounds since the end of February. Things are going pretty good right now.
