Hi God. Are You There? Are You Real?

The opposite, if anything. But, I don’t bother guessing motivations as it makes no difference to me. It’s just that I’ve met and seen enough counter culturalists to not be surprised by that as a motive.

Out of curiosity, do you believe there are likely varying degrees of biological predisposition to religiosity? I mean, the traits you describe could be attributed to early Christians. Even Christians living in certain societies today. Is that evidence they were born predisposed to Christianity? Because they remain Christian in brutally oppressive circumstances?

So to be clear you think that every gay person at some point made a conscious decision to be gay?

And you don’t think any kid who’s ever been ridiculed, threatened, made to feel like a piece of shit didn’t just stop that and switch teams?

Like I said we aren’t going to agree I realize but coming to this conclusion (and I know you are far from alone in it) blows my mind.

Never said that. It doesn’t matter to me, so I don’t ascribe motivations or predispositions. Other can figure that out and to what degree either way.

But that does lead me into another hypothetical. If we can identify a biological cause, and this leads to tests, and things like gene editing (if genetic, of course) to edit out homosexuality in offspring (in utero) should it be allowed as elective? Remember, this is a society where the same fetus could be aborted. So, how about it?

Lol and the answer to your question about who would jump on is none of them. They intentionally didn’t jump on the bandwagon despite positive reinforcement from their culture.

Sure why not. There’s a certain cosmic justice to that, as it would almost certainly also open up the door to gene editing religion out of your kid

Why would I edit religion out of my kid? We’re still easily the majority =p

Anyways, that’s a genuine yes?

Oh not saying you would. Just that gene editing would most likely allow for both, and I think we’d see more people eliminating religion than homosexuality.

I sure would have if I had the chance

Absolutely. As a non believer I genuinely love the thought of being able to play God with genes and eradicate disease / etc.

Gene editing is a really cool topic that we’re just scratching the surface of

That is a yes, I suppose.

To continue the hypothetical, should we allow the editing of heterosexuality? Even if it became popular?

This was the yes lol.

Of course. Reproducing isn’t reliant on being hetero in 2019. I can’t imagine we won’t improve it even more by the time something like gene editing is a thing

Uh, by what percent? And do the birthing pods have to even be realized first for that approval?
And,

I don’t follow the question

What percent are outside of the use of an egg and sperm from male and female.

Being hetero isn’t a requirement.

I work with a lesbian that had a child via donor a couple years ago. Her and her wife are awesome.

What percent of our new citizens are such relationships contributing?

Currently? No idea. I wouldn’t even know how to find that data tbh.

In a world where people are editing out hetero per your question (or I suppose in an instance where the global population stops growing millions+/year), I’d imagine it’d be much more popular.

Unless you want societal collapse (catastrophic depopulation) it still is.

Nah. That’s just fear mongering with zero basis to back it up. You’ve never seen it happen, nor has anyone. Your crapshoot guess definitely isn’t better than anyone elses.

That’s not to say that being hetero is going anywhere. IIRC homo rates are still low single digits globally. It would take thousands of years to reprogram basic instincts even if people were trying to.

Supper time. Check back later tonight.

Um, no. Later.
