Hey, Newbies. Here's What to Do

Stand every week for 2 minutes naked in Front of a mirrow and think about If you Like what you see

Some people gotta learn the hard way…….

The American Psycho method.

For a real challenge: do this with the lights ON.

@RT_Nomad never discount the power of using various training exercises and high rep schemes.

You can point your fingers to the genetics all you want.

Grimek wasn’t doing only the exercises of your generation, he was doing forgotten exercises too. I recall what you said about them…………

Regarding getting hurt, anyone can get hurt in an accident, anyone can be jogging or cycling and get hit by a car. I’ve known people who get in accidents and they don’t lift the same weights again. They still lift though. If I get hurt from anything, I’m still gonna find a way to lift.

Track your progress.

You are the one who mentioned John Grimek into a comparison for the average person considering weight training subject. I just added a little reality to your comment.

I made no comment on this subject in this thread. I support many approaches to varying weight training strategies. I just know that after 2 months, or so, the best weight training program is the one you are not doing. As you know of me, I am totally against one rep maximum attempts as a portion of a training program. You love them. Please try not to make that the sole issue for you commenting on a post that I make. I approach weight training results from every angle that I can perceive an impact.

Why is this troll ruining another thread?

To show newbies what not to do in far more than 40 words.

  1. Eat more protein, and then more protein
  2. Never get weaker on any exercise
  3. Always look better in the mirror

Which one? It’s difficult keeping up.

Wait, this isn’t everyone’s standard daily routine?!

Two minutes seems a long time to stand gazing critically at oneself. I like my entire shower routine to last no more than 30 minutes from start to finish, so my self-appraisal is limited to probably under 5 seconds, but anyway, yeah, weird to think of anyone needing a weekly appointment to see themselves naked.

Whoa… don’t add ā€œcriticallyā€ to the assignment; my whole day will change!

Tate said something very similar in a Table Talk. :+1:

It’s okay - I’m using definition number two. Which you already do! So your days can go along in the usual happy manner.

adverb

  1. in a judgmental or disapproving manner:

  2. in a manner involving skillful analysis of merit, as of a decision or work of art or literature: critically admired novels.

With regard to the topic of the thread, this is the opposite of good advice. The analogies are faulty. Anyone can have a car accident but that doesn’t mean you don’t wear a seatbelt, you drive drunk, you drive in the wrong lane, you ignore traffic lights, etc.

And sure, you can lift weights if you’re in a wheelchair but good luck wiping your own ass.

This is a good exercise as we try to prioritize our ā€œbig pictureā€ advice. Another thought I’d offer:
There is no optimal; you don’t need the Internet’s permission to do what you like.

What about validation? Shouldn’t we still try to get that from the internet?

@zecarlo the advice you gave me about sets of reps are harder than 1 rep and me hiding under my bed and being lazy is good advice then???

Ronnie Coleman initially hurt himself doing REPS in the squat with 600. He says this in his interview, on rep blah (I think it was 8) he heard and felt a pop.

Ronnie didn’t do 1-rep or even low reps except that video AND he did them in his younger powerlifting days.

I have no issues with the type of sets that have me hiding under my bed. I do them from time to time, but it’s been MY experience those are the types of things that injure me. I guess that’s why I hide under my bed from them.

I have no shame in feeling some anxiety and fear before a big hard set of 10 or 1rep.
