And i thought I smashed myself up on legs, I’ve NEVER seen anyone hit the deck like that after 1 set.
I didn’t think the depth was too bed but the eccentric was too fast and his lower back was copping a major hit on the way back up.
I really thought he was hurt at the end, what’s with the lying there?
If he’s not careful one day, with all those dramatics he won’t rack the bar one day and take a dive with the bar coming down on top of him. Hopefully he’ll post the video for that too.

No one’s perfect and the guy busts his ass.
Agreed. At least he’s squatting. At my gym, the only person I see doing squats is an old guy doing quaters’. Its possible hes no flexable enough to go A2G ya know. I had that problem for awhile. Needed to stretch my calve/achilles more ect.
Is it me or does he look skinny as hell. Looks like hes weighing in around 140-150lbs. From all this lifting hes been doing one would think that he would gain some size.
I have no comments about his form, as it is probably better than I was 12 months ago.
I just cant believe that he thinks it is a good idea to put himself crashing to the ground in agony after squatting on the internet.
If he is seriuosly in that much pain, he has some form or physiological issues that need to be dealt with.
If he is not in that much pain, but does it because he thinks that it is going to earn him respect because he is working out so hardcore, well then he is just a …(I dont seem to be very good at insults so I will let you insert your own favourite)
I see there’s one video of him squatting 385 for 1. I don’t understand how he was able to do that when 225 was giving him hell from rep 5 and onwards, maybe the spotter was giving help, I can’t really tell. I do like his ATG front squat even though he’s rounding his back severely. Also, he does have a strong deadlift, period. For some reason, he has the kind of internet persona that people don’t like so people don’t like giving him credit.
I’m also surprised at the disparity of strength between his deads and squats. I do agree with some of the posters about all that gear he’s wearing, it’s over the top for something like 225.
Video #25. This must be where DW gets his “inspiration”. Kinda cute, eh?
You realize he has met Jesse? He interacts with him regularly and gets training advice from him.
Was his form good? Not really. I don’t think he broke parallel on any rep, but so what? Where’s your lifting videos (“you” as in “the people mocking him”)? He has improved. He’s improved in strength, form, and attitude. He still has a lot of room for improvement, in all three categories, but he’s out there busting his ass. And he posts it for all to see. That’s more than I can say for 90% of this website.
I’ve gotta agree with Zap on this one. I’ve done 2x15@225 before, and I sat down and whimpered for over 5 minutes at the end. Didn’t puke, but I felt like it. I think I could have done 21 reps, but I’m not sure.
DW takes a lot of abuse, but the kid works hard. Jesse apparently has helped him out, Jim Wendler has offered advice.
Personally, I agree he needs work on the form, but you maintain perfect form at the end of that set. Kid has a lot of guts, and a lot of heart. I’d work out with him.

The collapse at the end is overly dramatic and invites abuse.
I don’t blame him for lying down at the end of the set, just for including it in the video.
The thing that struck me was how narrow his stance was and how unstable he seemed through it all. Yes, I’ve done 20 rep squats and I give credit to anyone who tries them. However, the similarity to Jesse’s video with little bit at the end screamed drama queen to me.
To all those beating on the DW-beaters, I’d like to remind you why DW has such a bed rep on T-Nation.
Once upon a time, he posted a bunch of videos squatting and deadlifting with terrible form and too much weight. When people pointed out the flaws in his technique and told him to drastically lower the weight he was using and concentrate on form, he responded with an attitude of “my form is fine, what the hell are you talking about?”.
He got advice from some of the most knowledgable people on T-Nation, and instead of appreciating it, he lashed back, starting many an argument with coaches who know more than he ever will.
In these latest videos, his form has improved, but most people still think he’s using more weight than he can really handle. This is usually taken as sign of hyperegoness, rather than hardcoreness.
Just thought I’d put things into perspective for those who aren’t up to date on The Adventures of DW in T-Nation.

LOL… you hit the nail on the head.
I remember DW telling some pretty smart people where to stick it. You shall reap what you sow.

I’ve seen him at Sherdog and on Marunde’s site as well. He makes his rounds and has become quite the cult personality. He supposedly has mental problems from being in Iraq.
