Helping Tendons Heal?

I have small tears in 3 tendons right now (knee and both elbows). I am curious if there are stretches/ways to lift/supplements that help them heal faster (i have had 2 physical therapists tell me it shouldn’t take this long).

I am currently taking glucosamine, chondritin, msm, flax oil, and I recently started creatine

thanks
adam

You might want to take a week or two off from the gym, lighten up your weight, and do flys instead of presses.

Although I have a hard time following my own advice sometimes, Lately I’ve had a little bit of tendinitis on my right knee.

I kept thinking it’ll get better but it hasn’t so as much as it pains me I’m taking 2 weeks off from leg training before it get worse. 5 years ago I had the same problem but kept lifting and wound up having to take 2 months off of training legs.
Good luck

Oh yea I’d save the creatine for when your healed up.

How do you know they are tears in the tendon, and before you answer that, how do the PT’s know?

Hi Adam

I would recommend WOBE, bromelian these are digestive enzymes that help with scar tissue, bruises, tears etc., The germans use to take them when their training volume was high because it helped their athletes recover faster.
I would also take MSM and glucosamine.

Hey Jorge, I googled WOBE and came up with Wobezyme which is a mix of digestive enzymes. A little pricey for me. You think bromelian by its self helps?

Stops internal bleeding, bruising and swelling, invigorates blood, breaks blood stagnation, stops pain, strengthens tendons and bones.

Also look at!

Doesn’t say in the write up, but Sho Wu also strengthens tendons and bones!

Hope these help they have sure helped my shoulder!!

Just ordered some of the Sho Wu. I says it will turn my grey hair back to its original color. Maybe I can kill two birds with one stone. Starsil do you know if this the same as Ho Sho Wu or Fo Ti as its also called?

Adam

Sure they work by itself not as good as the WOBE, but there is a lot of clinical studies that support the effects. And they complement any therapy you are using .

I would be cautious of taking random chinese medicine. Better off going to see a TCM doctor and having them work with you and give you specific herbs.

Has anyone tried Jarrow Flex-Zyme? It looks very similar to the WOBE but is much cheaper…

The following applies to tendonitis and not tendon tears, but it could help. I am racked with tendonitis and am totally pissed off. I’m icing the crap out of everything, resting the affected tendons and doing super light lifting (physical therapy weight) and I’m having marginal success.

I came across the following article and I’m going to fool around with the methods described there for a while.

Do not overlook foam rolling and ART. While such things do no treat tears, they will release tightness in your muscles that aggravate the tears. What if tightness in your IT bands or quads is causing excessive pulling on your knee’s tendons?

So foam roll all of the surrounding muscle groups.

I was about to suggest the same article. What held me back though was the fact that we never heard from Peter Blanchonette again and a Google search doesn’t bring anything either.
