ooo

no no… although the principles are still sound if you were to calculate a caloric deficit.

You might consider V-Diet in that case which would allow you to cut down… taper off it and then jump into a bulk phase.

What is your body fat?

i haven’t had it measured…not sure. I’m guessing 12? You can’t see my abs, well barely. And my stomach kinda folds over my belt when I sit, but no one looking at me would consider me overweight

oh and where do i find V-Diet?

MJC,

Even in this thread you sound all over the place. I’m not slamming you, but you and only you can decide what it is you are going to do.

Are you bulking? Are you cutting?

Bulking, pick a serious program including plenty of compound lifts and eat a ton of food.

Cutting, work on maintaining strength and doing a light enough volume that you can recover from your workouts while under calorie restriction.

Pick a target. Pick a program. Quit screwing around with half measures and make it work. Yes, you have to respect any health issues you have (injuries or whatnot) but find alternates if you must and get it done.

Now in a way I hate giving this advice, because I compare where I am to where I want to be and I haven’t cut myself much slack if I listen to my own advice…

My brain’s going to fuckin’ pop…I know, I am all over the place. Sometimes I’ll look at myself and think that I should cut down(so i can see my abs for once in my life) at other times i just wanna be a lot thicker than I am. I’m sure being a bipolar weirdo doesn’t help much

There is always time to see Abs. I know its hard to take that from me but in all seriousness if you are doing some serious bulking there is a good chance the abs are gonna fade for a little.

V-Diet is in Chris Shugart’s web-blog.

Make up your mind and go for it. But make sure it is 100%.

Bulk while you’ve got the hormones.

Okay, bookmark the following link, and don’t get put off by the title… there are more links in this thread than you can shake a stick at…

Forget the past. It isn’t going to have anything to do with your future. Don’t get stuck changing your mind every time you read something new.

Pick a goal. Eat to support it. Choose a good program (anything on this site). Do it like you mean it. Do the whole damned thing from start to finish.

Read like hell and fry your brain on recovery days. Spend your entire program figuring out how you can improve your diet and choosing your next program.

DO THE WHOLE GODDAMN PROGRAM AS WRITTEN AND DONT QUIT UNTIL YOU ARE DONE.

Heh, I’m just trying to help. If you can’t decide, man, flip a coin or use cards or something. It doesn’t much matter what you pick, the magic will be sticking to it and doing this each time you pick a program.

If even that is too much work. Go with Chad’s anti-bodybuilding hypertrophy program. It’s generally a switchup for most people and nearly everyone who has tried has had good things to say. Bulk cleanly during this program.

Write your workouts down for the next month or two (you can do three days a week on ABBH, it just takes a bit longer to complete). Cross one off each time you do one. I mean really, find a strategy or tool that helps you stick with your choice and fucking do it.

DO WHATEVER IT TAKES, JUST GET IT DONE ALREADY!!!

Do you want to be pissing about no progress five years from now? I think not…

I’ve tried quite a bit…trust me.

I have goals and I don’t care how long it takes to reach them, but it’s getting harder and harder for me to stay on track when I’m not sure if all of my hard work is going towards no outcome at all.

I’m not sure if my arms are just huge due to genetics or maybe they’re(triceps) naturally superior over my chest?

My chest and back do grow but not like they should. [/quote]

I’m going to take a stab in the dark and say that your chest and shoulders do not grow because you don’t train them properly. If after 5 years of training, I still had to use assisted pull-ups in my training, I would cut my legs off in order to lighten the load.

You say that you don’t care how long it takes you to reach your goals. That is good, because until you actually figure out what you want to do (bulk, cut, whatever) you are going to continue to waste time. You are undisicplined in your approach and your training methodolgies, and it is killing your potential progress.

You’re really not going to like the next part. Eat more and train properly. People are telling you to do it for good reason - it works. 2000cals is a morning’s worth of food for me. Adjust your training and increase your calories until you see some results. Doing 10 sets of 3 reps unassisted pull-ups may be a good place to start for building back strength. What weight do you use for your rows?

“I’m not sure if my arms are just huge”

16 inch arms are not huge by any stretch of the imaginiation.

None of this is probably what you wanted to hear - this doesn’t mean it isn’t right or won’t work. One thing is clear. If you don’t make changes to what you are doing and focus, then you are going to waste another 5 years.

Good Luck.

I realize that 16’’ arms are not huge…but they are compared to the rest of me. It’s the 1st thing people notice when they see me at the gym. And my arms and shoulders were the first thing to grow when i began working out. Infact, they grew so fast that many of my friends were convinced that I was using steroids.
I can db row w/65’s 8-12reps.

Anyway, I want to thank you guys and to be honest, I do want to hear all of this shit. It’s what I need to hear. I can take any/all criticism and it will only motivate me.
So I’m almost there…to a decision that I’ll stick with…but not quite. I’m getting the feeling that most think I should bulk now. And I know that everyone knows that I need to pick a routine.

bye the way vroom…brilliant with that post w/the links

Maybe your chest/back don’t grow because you make the exercises for those muscles into armexercises? Just a guess because you talked about your arms and then refere to how much you can Db row! How’s your form?
