Help with Mono

Hey Fellas,

So the results are back and I have mono. I can’t touch the weights for 2 weeks, but I’ve had mono for awhile and just recently did my best bench and deadlift last week. What are some staple foods that I should included in my diet in order to sustain muscle? I was thinking that this may be a good way to get cut but I don’t want to shortchange my body while its fighting the virus.

I had mono year ago. It drains you and makes you tired but I wouldnt totally stop working out. Simply use the time to lower the volume of your training. Lower the weight and perform the usual sets. This should help with maintaining LBM.

Just my 2 cc.

Oh and Diet plenty of protein, go for large amounts from meat and your slower dairy (casein) sources. You really wont need the faster burning protein. You are looking for slow anticatabolic stuff meat and cottage cheese in mass quantities.

what is mono?

mono is a viral infection, mononucleosis (or the kissing disease as some call it), symptoms are extreme tiredness, fever, sore throat and body, loss of energy, all that good stuff. Lasts usually from around 2-4 weeks i believe.

Whetu, short for mononucleosis. It’s a viral infection that causes swelling of the lymph nodes and makes most people very tired, headache, sore throat, fever. Once you get it the first time, the antibodies in the blood stay with you for life which is why most people only get it once (although, it IS possuble to get it more than once, contrary to popular belief). Much more serious cases can affect the liver and even cause liver failure. Not much you can do about mono, it just kind of has to pass on it’s on own (except for OTC fever and pain medication). Usually the worst of it goes within 2-3 weeks, but some people can feel like shit for six months even…

I feel your pain man, I really do. Last Oct I got mono and a nasty bacterial infection in my tonsils. I missed 8 weeks of school and lost over 30 pounds. Very depressing for sure. Everything comes back eventually though.

sounds shit
