Help with Low Free Test / High SHBG

Have you used Proviron, if so how did that go? Any dosage recommendations on it and how long it should be use? I can research, but figured I would ask. From what I read it is quite mild. Only thing I saw that may be of concern was the HDL and LDL effects.

Also, since it increase DHT from my understanding, any concerns for prostate issues? Dad has prostate cancer, so wondering if might be advisable I avoid anything that might increase risks of issues.

I’ve only used proviron during PCTs, down to 25mg biweekly or 12.5mg every other day, both cases it felt great and got no sides from it (I react pretty much instantly to all Androgens). I’d be very surprised if it increased DHT. It just kinda acts like DHT at the AR.

I’ve seen bloods from people who use 12.5mg / 25mg per day showing no issues. That said, prostate cancer is a much more complex topic than strictly DHT. As seen in patients who are on 5ar inhibitors but do get aggressive prostate cancer with normal looking bloods.

Gotcha, I think I may give it a shot. Everything says it doesn’t do much stand alone, but I respond very well to things and feel it’s worth running for a bit. I may have miseread about DHT.

True. Been keeping an eye on my PSA and it is low, so no concern there yet. Probably have an exam done in 4 or 5 yrs, unless that creeps up. Hopefully I’ll be fine though.

My favorite quote from medical posts … regarding Proviron:

If, in individual cases, frequent or persistent erections occur, the dose should
be reduced or the treatment discontinued in order to avoid injury to the penis. Source

Lmao nice

Did you notice how bad it affected your cholesterol? That is one thing I’ve been reading is that it can be pretty bad on raising LDL and decreasing HDL.

Got some new labs, so wanted to add those to see if I could get any further advice. Also, did a saliva cortisol which took 4 tubes throughout the day, but haven’t gotten those results yet.

FSH is low on this one and wasn’t on previous labs from August. Not sure if that is a concern or not. This test was done around 3pm and the other 10:30am. Free test low and SHBG still elevated. One doc said my cholesterol levels were too low and that might be why. He was also suggesting trying clomid, but I dont think I care to go that route.

@tontongg figured I’d see what you thought about these new labs. Had a few others he pulled, but dont think they are that important for this. I can paste the labs if needed - Vitamin D 1,25, Vitamin D, 25, ACTH, Plasma, Estrone, Homocysteine, Estradiol (already did sensitive in above labs)

Clomid is not recommended for those who have high SHBG as it will increase it more and Free T will decrease further. Your situation will worsen and what your doctor is suggesting will harm you by lowering your free testosterone, that is the opposite direction you need to be going.

TRT is your only hope at lowering SHBG.

Yeah, didn’t plan on trying clomid. I’d researched that some and not sure why he though that was a good suggestion. Considering trying Proviron or may just commit to TRT. Have to further determine why FSH

is low.

Your doctor is covering his own ***, doctors have to try other methods before prescribing TRT or they risk serious consequences down the road.

Almost no one finds out why LH or FSH are low, MRI’s never show anything wrong yet something is wrong.

I believe it’s western lifestyle, pesticides, processed foods and chemicals. There’s miniscule amount of birth control in the water table and dead whales are found with over 100 plastic cups in the bellies.

We are the cause.

They seem more willing if you over 40.

Oh I’ve gotten prescribed TRT by my urologist. Just haven’t committed to that as it’s lifelong, if I make that jump. Don’t exactly want to deal with testicular atrophy either. I mean I know that’s a cosmetic thing, but still.

After a year my testicles are same size from beginning of trt. And they hang better then before.

Guess it just depends on the person. Are you running HCG as well or TRT only?

Oops forgot to say that. Only t. Nothing else.
How is ru

Trt isn’t gonna help at lowering SHBG at all. It will just work around it basically you’ll need high doses of T just to get enough free/bioavailability T. TRT is a last resort therapy. There are plenty of oral options that will do you some good. Clomid+Proviron. DHEA+Proviron. Don’t go above 12.5 mayyyybe 25mg per day for any of these.

Thanks for the info. Thoughts on my lower FSH levels on these last labs?

I wish I could find Prov. Really want to try that, but all I found is UGL. It’s caps and 25mg, so halfing it would be a pain and hard to dose.

And my SHBG wasn’t nearly as high is my older labs. Not sure why it jumped up so much. I feel like my diet got much better, incorporating more fruits and veggies. Wouldn’t think that would have a negative affect on it though.
