Whats up guys, I’ve been on T Enanthate for 2 months. My initial labs by my urologist only showed Total T/Free T, so I did my own with letsgetchecked after 8 weeks. I had symptoms of Low T, but my Total T was acceptable
Protocol: Microdosing Enanthate at 8am daily (total 85mg/week) after about 6 weeks, I started feeling a little tired and had figured I had a natural shutdown so I did a small bump to 105mg/week as of 2 weeks ago
Supplementing with neuro-steroids DHEA & Pregnenolone because of sleep issues.
My first set of labs came back today and my Test is very high, so it seems I shouldve stayed at 85mg/week. I know dropping the dose will also lower the high Estradiol, but I’m curious about prolactin levels. Is this a side effect of overall high test or is there some other issue?
Lab Date 4/2
Total Test: 3140 HIGH (Ref Range 249-836)
SHBG: 53.50 NORM (Ref Range 17-53)
Free Androgen: 203.66 HIGH (Ref Range 25-98)
Free Test: 85.8 HIGH (Ref Range 4-24)
Cortisol: 0.47 NORM (Ref Range 0-0.7)
Estradiol: 65 HIGH (Ref Range <45)
Prolactin 22.8 HIGH (Ref Range 4-15)
If anyone else had similar fluctuations early on in TRT, please chime in. I’m not sure if I should get an AI or just drop dose and wait it out.
Someone with high SHBG like yourself should ignore that Total T altogether, because the higher the SHBG, the higher the Total T. SHBG inflates the Total T value and can be very misleading!
The Free T and its metabolites estrogen and DHT is what truly matters, and drives the effects of TRT.
Wow, thank you for all the great info. I’m not taking any vitamin B supplements but Biotin may be high with food intake. I was figuring I may just be a hyper-responder. I’ve also been taking a boron supplement at night for several months to lower SHBG because it was my thoughts before I started that it was probably high. Unfortunately the first lab test prior to TRT didn’t show anything other than my Total and Free T. Would you recommend dosing any differently. i.e. every 3 days to have a higher androgen level possibly suppress SHBG?
Daily injections is usually for men trying to mitigate side effects of treatment, but not normal for something starting out on TRT. Some men metabolize testosterone quickly and may need more frequent injections.
I think weekly or twice weekly is fine and very common.
My advice, don’t overthink it, do what’s convenient and what works best for you.
What made you decide to inject daily right out of the gate?
I had actually tried TRT last summer (pinning twice a week) and ended up with intense insomnia and anxiety. Although I wasn’t on the neuro-steroids DHEA/Pregnenolone, I decided to start this time pinning daily to avoid big peaks and troughs in case that was the problem even though it’s probably the supplements. I don’t mind pinning daily at all, but if there is an advantage to a bigger dose twice a week I will definitely opt for it, and if there’s any issues i’ll go back to daily. Thanks brother!
