Help With Football Training

Hey guys, i’m kind of new here… This is my first post, but i’ve been reading around here for a while.

I’m a junior in high school, and I just finished up my track season. I’m currently getting ready for my last season of football and wanted to know what your thoughts would be on a lifting schedule of some sort. I play linebacker, and wanted to put on some lean muscle mass. I’m currently 5’9, 167 lbs. I also wanted to lose some body fat so that I could look better for the summer. Any ideas? The training that I would be doing would be done on my own time, and performed seperately from what the coaches have us doing as our off-season program. Any information would be helped as far as training routines and dieting, as I am willing to do anything to accomplish my goals. I also wanted to know what I could do to increase my speed as i’m not so great at acceleration or redirection. Any help would be much appreciated, thanks.
