Thanks for stoppin in Pete , what do you think about doing a lot of singles about 4 weeks out , will it drive up my 1 RM.

I would start including some. Going all out for 4-20 reps is totally different than straining on a 1 r.m.

Pete I know silly question. In strongman you may be doing up to 20 or more reps with some events, so training is much like competition. For power lifting you going for 1rm. Didn’t know if there is a prep for competition protocal that I should use.

Most powerlifters are training low reps beginning about six weeks out. By my last month, I’m working triples, doubles, and meet attempts exclusively. Doesn’t 531 for powerlifting have a meet training protocol? I know heavy singles are recommended.

Snap thanks for stoppin in and the advice, no I have not bought wendlers book, probably will now that I like 531. This is my first power lift since HS and my life as a adult began so to speak. I have done stronman competitions. I will post some video soon, my weak lift is DL due to back injury several years ago(still no confidence to go all out). Will glady take input of any kind so swing away.

Looking over log for successful points and noted that PR’s all came following high volume combined with low rep< 4 in the weeks preceeding the PR’s and took some long breaks, am going to try to duplicate for my time I have left until the lift.

You got a meet coming up soon? Here’s my advice:

Get outta the smith.

Take some weight off the bar.

Fix your squat depth. You’re several inches high and will be DQ’ed if you can’t get your hip crease below the top of your knee.

I I Snap. Didn’t have a choice yesterday, lift in that smith or wait til the next day.

x 2 on Snap’s comments. If given a choice between Smith and waiting a day, wait a day. Also, is that the belt you will be using in comp?
