Like you TC I’m pretty unhip to what goes on in music today. But one tune that motivates me is “Till I Collapse” by Eminem. Not like I’m a fan of Eminem; the only reason this motivates me is because I heard it while watching this clip:
www.nextageinnovations.com/Videos/Team_Super_Training_1a.wmv
So really it’s a Pavlovian response - watching video of strong guys moving big weights is motivating. Hear Eminem in the background while watching video of strong guys moving big weights. Pavlovian response = hear Eminem, get motivated to lift.
Aenima by Tool always gets me pumped. I’m talking specifically the song Aenima, not the album by the same name (although the album will do it too). Seriously, nothing gets me more worked up. Not only is it a testosterone-drenched song, but it’s very intelligent and clever too. Good mix. Oh, and it hits nearly about seven minutes in length, so you get your money’s worth.
A lot of the other choices here are great too, and many are on my playlists. In fact, most of the choices I read through are great. This crowd has good taste in workout music.

My roommate is a DJ and is currently off spinning in Italy now, so i certainly have some techno recommendations that are popular enough to actually find. The following have similar sound to Benassi’s tracks.
-Fisherspooner - emerge (try to get ‘daft punk mix’ if possible)
-Gabriel & Dresden -Tracking Treasure Down
-Ferry Corsten- Body Rock
OK
New Day Rising- Husker Du 2:34 sec.
A stolen quote:
New Day Rising The opening title pretty much sets the pace for the entire album: aggressive, massively distorted rock with knobs set on stun. Bob Mould screams “New day rising” over and over throughout the entire song and creates a rather uplifting sense of aggression.
“Uplifting agression”- could not have said it better myself.
