Hi, Anj. I saw your post & checked back with Kate. My comment is no longer posted.

You are lovely, by the way. Can’t wait to see you progress through your transformation.

Thanks, Miss P! You are quite the inspiration yourself Ma’am, and if you can be fit and healthy and keep the weight off, then so can I. Coming here and reading posts from women like you is a heck of a lot better than what Kate Harding and her site can do, eh?

I belong to a body for life website that has many large people joining on a daily basis there is lots of sucess stories there as well. When I say sucess stories I mean true sucess stories there’s people there in thier 60’s that have leaned down and now lead active lifestyles. there’s also alot of people that were formerly clinicaly Obese and are no longer. Your wife should check it out. www.bodyforlife-tracker.com

T-Nation seems to be a natural progression from the site I mentioned above.

My post was deleted from that Kate womans site. Censorship is a wonderfull thing

My wife read this thread and requested that I remove the quotes from her emails.

Well, hopefully that went well…

good for you for respecting her wishes, and good for your wife for reading the thread. It had to take a lot for her to be open to reading this thread.

Best of everything to both of you

Did she read the part where Harding is intellectually dishonest and not interested in open dialogue?

Hey Fiction… can we stop all that now?

If she is reading the thread a bunch of men making snarky comments isn’t needed.

Amen, Octobergirl.

And, dear Synthetic’s wife,

I’m sorry you’ve been having such a hard time for so long with your weight, but soon that’s going to be a part of your past. You may not believe it at this point, but you can have a body that will feel and look strong and slim and beautiful. I think Synthetic must love you very much to have reached out like this. We all wish you the best - many of us have faced similar struggles and can help you any time you want. Good luck!

Parker

P.S. You might consider reading theAnj’s blog on her T-page. I find it very inspirational.

I was actually serious, not trying to be snarky. If the comments above are true, and she genuinely deletes constructively critical comments, that seems to be something that would be important for her to know. Willingness to allow freedom of dialogue is one of the first things I look for when I go to any sort of collective information source.

It’s fine to be a pundit, but don’t have a comments section and give the pretense that you allow criticism when you don’t.

My mistake Fiction, I should have PMed you rather than making this public.

I’ll PM you

Sorry for coming on late in this thread.

I’m no newbie here…so forgive my slight of spamming.

I’ve been arguing with the fat acceptance movement for some time online.

I run

www.myfatspouse.com, which is a site for wives and husbands who are married to fat spouses. Its’ respectful but firm. We regularly take on Kate Harding and her Ilk.

More importantly I run a blog

www.unfatblog.com where I regularly debunks the BS that comes out of the fat acceptance movement. I have become major thorn in Kate Harding’s side, and others like her. So much so that the fat acceptance movement will only mention my sites in code words.

If you want to debunk the fat acceptance movement let me suggest my website and related blog as a starting point.

Hey can everyone just be a little considerate and stop with the K*** H****** posts?

this is a person’s marriage, not your crusade.

synthetic’s wife, whoever you are…all I’ll say is believe in yourself. Just look at the women here–it IS possible to do. Be happy with yourself no matter if you are big or small, old or young. But if losing weight is something that YOU desire, just know that there are women that have gone before you and done what you want to do.

[in Forrest Gump speak] And that’s all I have to say about that. I’m out.

Hehehe

I??m a 300 pound man on my way to 400 and couldn??t agree more. All these ??health freaks?? who go to the gym every day lifting weights and pounding on the treadmills are the unhealthy ones.

Seriously restricting your body of the nutrients it needs while stressing your body with weights or running, and considering yourself healthy is ridiculous. How much stress do you think your body was made to handle? Fat is a survival adaptation, it??s there to store energy for when it??s needed, so that you are able to live longer, that means the more fat I pile on the more likely I am able to survive if there is no food available.

Right now I mainly eat whatever is in the fridge, and sit on my couch watching T.V. for most of the day. I only get up to walk to the fridge so as not to expend precious calories. Hopefully one day I will need a motorized scooter to get around. My wife used to be fairly chubby but she got onto a ??health kick?? and has leaned out considerably. She keeps trying to get me to go on a diet, and that I should exercise for my health but I realize all that stress is more unhealthy than the extra energy I am carrying in the form of fat.

Seriously how can extra energy be a bad thing? She also tells me that all this fat is increasing my estrogen levels and lower my testosterone levels, I say good, testosterone is an ugly hormone anyway, it??s responsible for all that is bad in our world. She thinks it??s unattractive, but I think big is beautiful and I should not have to change because someone else doesn??t like me the way I am.

Interesting.

Sorry came in late and didn’t read all the previous stuff,

The problem with that fat blog (sounds like something you’d find in a toilet…also not a nice thing to say!)
is that this woman is taking truths and twisting them.
She mentions a fact that people that hold a little bit more fan than the BMI would say is good can battle illness better and even live a bit longer. But the study meant the kind of fat like, well, mine. You can’t see my abs (except for a tiny bit of those top two, but that’s easy)but my gut doesn’t flop over my belt. I could stand to lose 10 lbs. They didn’t mean 50lbs plus overweight housewives.
She also said the BMI is bullshit, which we know is sort of true, because we here know that having more muscle doesn’t harm you. She’s trying to fit obese women in the door with the likes of us.

suggestion: get your wife to listen to Anthony Robbins instead…

My wife is an avid reader of the Kate Harding blog. If you haven’t heard of it, she’s basically a feminist who preaches that fat girls shouldn’t have to change for anyone, and they’re healthier fat than they would be skinny. Here are some typical rants:

http://kateharding.net/but-dont-you-realize-fat-is-unhealthy/

http://kateharding.net/2008/08/19/why-people-hate-the-gym/

My wife goes to the gym almost every day, but she’s doing almost everything wrong with her diet. Skipping breakfast, high carbs, cereal before bed, cheat meals 2-6 times a week, buys ice cream when she does the shopping, etc.

I’m trying to convince her to watch her diet, but the only time she’s made any progress was by cutting down to 1200 calories a day, starving on carrot sticks and using cardio machines every day.

She doesn’t want to do that again when it will all come right back (due to her poor eating habits and willpower). She ended up gaining it all back over the five years we’ve been married.

How do I convince her that her weight might really be unhealthy, not to mention she would look better naked if she weighed less than me?

Thanks for any suggestions.

“Convince” her by getting a divorce.

Otherwise, things are NOT going to get any better. Would bet a million dollars on it.
