Help Appreciated With Protein Shakes

I lift 4 days a week (2 lower body, 2 upper body) and was wondering what a good protein shake to get would be. I am completely new to this and would like to hear your advice on what the best shake avalible is. Lower cost is preferred.

I used to buy the cans of stuff out of the machine at my gym for my after workout drink. At 3 bucks a pop, it was pricey. Then I got smart.

Get a container of Biotest Whey and make your own.

My two liquid meals (you eat 5-6 times a day, right?..) are 2 scoops whey (44 g. protein) 2 big spoons of malt and 16 oz fat free milk.

Sometimes I’ll mix 8 oz orange juice, 8 oz ice water, a handfull of frozen fruit, and 2 scoops whey. If you skip the fruit, it tastes like an Orange Julius.

It may seem like a lot of money, but 5 lbs will last you longer than you think. It’s the one product from these guys I have been buying steadily ever since I discovered T-Nation.

If you’re new to this. you don’t need a shake. get to the gym and shake the weights around for a solid year then seek out supplements. how’s your food plan? eat much?

25g Whey protein + 50g simple carb(gatorade) maybe some creatine thrown in there too if you really want to get crazy!!

Surge. Go the Store and get it. Get Chocolate. Get more than one. Shake it. Drink it. Repeat it. Enjoy it.

I have been lifting for almost 2 years (with a few months break) and have seen my totals go up a lot. I never used any protein shakes before though, so that’s what I meant to say when I said I was new to this. But I can’t seem to get stronger anymore (im not really that strong as it is), and I know I don’t get enough protein throughout my day.

Or, some Protein/Simple Carbohydrate concoction.

Protein Powder/Gatorade is pretty popular, that or Protein Powder/Fruit Juice.
