I am slowly making it not suck as bad. I joke a lot about my arms being long but, seriously, my wingspan is 84 inches. Making my bench press about as efficient as an epileptic humping a door knob.
I wanna hit 450 at my next raw meet… which would be nothing short of a miracle.
You have a 7ft wingspan at 6’2? Crikey I have a 7’1 wingspan at 6’9. Maybe I need to stop blaming my long arms!

I filled out sent in my paperwork for Nationals and there was a questionnaire on it with a question that said something like, “who do you attribute your success in the sport of powerlifting to?” And the first thing that came to mind to write down was StormTheBeach haha
Haha. Thats awesome man. I’m glad I can help. I basically had to figure all of this shit out on my own so I really don’t mind helping other people out to save some of the frustration that I had along the way. Good luck at Nationals.
always a week or two before a meet you get severly sick. WTF already!! learn to back off already man, you should’ve broken 2000 a while ago. Get better fast
Just dropping in to say I lurk on this log a lot. Right now I’m inexperienced and weak, and you’re experienced and strong, WHILE being of similar build to me (I’m 6’2" with a 81 inch wingspan),so reading this log, and your other blogs, have been extremely helpful. Thanks for providing so much insight into your training.

I havent been sick since before the last Arnold. I don’t know what is up. My last few weeks of training were pretty nuts and I think that almost killed me. I’ll be good to go by the time I compete.

Happy to help, bud. The best bench press tip I can give is since we can’t make our arms any shorter, we have to work like hell to make them as WIDE as possible. haha. Thanks for reading.

Kill it at the arnold man, get over the bronchitis!
Thanks man. It shouldnt be a problem by then. I don’t even care if it is, it’s definitely not going to stop me. Especially with Gillingham hurt this time around, I have a pretty good chance of doing some crazy stuff.

Whens your next meet?
I know its been awhile since you’ve been sick but it just seems for the past couple years before every major meet you get sick. You should just start popping anti-biotics 3 weeks out before meets lol! I saw your competition should be a little bit weaker this year due to some injuries…go kill some shit this year. I couldn’t get off work to head up and see you and one of our guys is lifting in the Lexen Pro/Am.
I wanted to get some more training in and get ready for a big multi-ply meet and I think it’s coming to my gym on May 19. It might just be single ply, but that one is the next I’m doing. If it’s multi…im going bananas
i hope this awakens a desire in you like never before and allows you to get over your disease
Training has been going awesome storm. Destroy the meet man. Goodluck

Nice. I need to find a meet this year to break in all my multi stuff. That one sounds good to me.

Ha! Great! Again, I’m glad to help. It makes me warm and fuzzy inside to know that I am helping this world get stronger.
This last week I usually spend a lot of time visualizing exactly what I am going to do in the meet. This has helped me tremendously in the past. The last 3 singles with 425 each took about 5mins. I thought about the bar being loaded, chalking my hands while I wait, my name being called, walking out onto the main stage, my exact meet set-up, my speed going down to the bar, my lockout, my down command, my victory “Tebowing,” and then the crowd errupting into a giant 300,000 person Viking battle melee. Did this for all three attmepts. I think I will be good for 830 on my last one.
Dimel Deads- 225x25, 315x15, 405x10
Back Ext.-30x2x15
Shrugs-315x2x25
Double OH Fat Bar DL’s- held 345 for 20 seconds
Done. I’ll do some direct hamstring/ab work tomorrow.
