Also as something to chew on: Most surgeries do not fix the strength loss if done after 4-6 weeks of initial onslaught of problems just the tingling/pain issues. so why have it.
As a sidenote I adjust my neck upwards of 20 times a day by rocking it back ear to shoulder left to right like my head is a bell
And… If you sit at a computer alot move the screen 1-2 feet left or right to mimic how we used to type with typewriters reading the paper and typing. Make sense. Oh and stand up straight-slouching with head forward is a major culprit here as well.
Good! Most of your damage is then related to soft tissue issues-we can make alot better.
tips: When lifting stay warm- I add linament to the area being exercised. Keep super hydrated. Foam roll alot. Twice daily on your armpit—its going to hurt, enjoy the pain. Use your traction device after every training session. Apply heat to area before application. Advil is your friend.
Fish what do you do for a living? And in case you dont know Heavy is a RN, which means he is used to telling people what to do medically but does not follow his own advice.

ouch, that hurt. [/quote]
Damn Heavy you know its true, us medical people are the fucking worse. We self diagnosis and put off doing what we are supposed to. I have a shoulder that has needed surgery for over 6 months now. So I am not pointing fingers.
I found out I am real good at rehabbing lifters with problems who can use some common sense. I went through everything HThrower is going through and helped atleast 10 other guys with rotator issues all get back to around 90% of their best lifts.
Mike, hope everything works out and gets as better as it can. Always valued your posts cause you’d walked the walk. As an aside, just got hooked on this thread cause of the information being provided. Some really good stuff being shared here. Impressed.
As an aside HThrower your arms are impressive and can easily become “bodybuilder” material. Just need some rear delt work and lose a little weight.
Serious here: Go see a ART practioner about this as well, most surgeons are hack’n’slash artists who don’t work with motivated athletes- ther normal clietele with these type of neck problems are usually car wrecks or 60+ yr olds with years of abuse.
Get massaged and get your neck pulled while laying flat. If you feel anything different like tingling-warm rush- we can rehab you

about the “not bodybuilder arms” comment, lol, i wonder if he meant that my arms are fat and flabby, if so, he is full of it, my biceps, front delts, triceps, and forearms are crazy vascular and solid as hell these days.
c5-c6 prominent right sub articular zone disc protrusion with indentation to the right ventral aspect of the cord and probable right lateral recess stenosis as well as narrowing of the right neural foramen.
c6-c7 broad based disc bulge with flattening of the ventral spinal cord and borderline central canal stenosis
colin thank you that ass is perfect.
Rant- thank you HT px is a piece of work.
Rick has helped me with training a few times,
I tend to over due it for a lil dude.
Ive mentioned it a million times , my neck is shot.
c4,c5,c6 are what looks like old herniated discs fusing.
and everyone wants me to do and Anterior Cervical Discectomy
an incision on the front- move all the muscle and tissue over-
some titanium plates and screws - good to go.
go where?
I would do surgery if it :
restored some mobility
made me pain free.
so far its more like
‘will prevent it from getting worse’
and provide some stability.
and no one can truly give good answers on
PT, true recovery timestables whether I would need a Halo
what kind of mobility I would have- I think both yes and no are out.
and no comment on being pain free -ish.
I have had good luck with heat traction soft tissue work and good chiropractic
mad mobility stuffs like a beach ball or soft big ball on a wall
a year or so ago It flared up bad - just as we had our first baby
and my gym membership ran out.
great timing.
moved blahblahblah new chiropractor who was affiliated with NYAC
former D1 footballer- and hammer guy with T&F.
understood my kind of training-
told me it wasnt getting worse
to rehab and get over it.
anyway- Im here to support
and learn
HeavyT Ive said it before to some of the smaller women-
who post here and train.
they made us small-
to prevent us from taking over.
but it just makes us work harder.
