I have a Motörhead tattoo
Nothing wrong with any of those, that’s for sure.
I caught CoC with Black Label Society and Red Fang - awesome show.
Maybe not quite metal but the new album from the Pretty Reckless is excellent. Nothing like a great female rock voice.

I wouldn’t say “excellent” … definitely listenable … I do dig the Kim Thayel track - the Tom Morelo track sounds like a Tom Morelo song. Taylor Momsen has a good voice. But I found most of it to be a good generic rock album.
Maybe I have been listening to garbage lately…
It’s working for listening at work anyway.
Check out this song “toxic garbage island” (it is good garbage). The more I listen to by Gojira the more I like them.
Don’t get me wrong … It’s a good listen I just wouldn’t describe it as excellent is all … semantics
Pedantics…

I guess you could call them industrial rock. They’re as much Skinny Puppy as they are NIN metal their sound hits as hard as a lot of metal depending on the song.
Looks like Portnoy is in another band. Solid drummer.
It’s interesting how that works. I could play 4 Horsemen just from muscle memory after not touching the guitar for 5 years. When I consciously thought about the notes I was playing, I’d just forget what came next.
It’s like how Tom Joad in The Grapes of Wrath was saying he could naturally find his way home after being gone so long but only if he didn’t think about it or he’d lose his way. Man, I wasn’t exaggerating when I was saying how much Steinback understood the human condition down to even the most minute of things. @Aragorn
That new drummer who used to play for Extreme whose name I can’t recall at the top of my head is great but I just can’t listen to anything by Dream Theater or even side projects by their members without Portnoy drumming. He’s got that kind progressive rock meets John Bonham kind of style that just can’t be replicated.
Mike Mangini … yes he’s a fantastic drummer but the DT albums sans portnoy lack his portnoyness … I do like the first post portnoy album … bridges in the sky is top 3 DT for me … and their most recent album had a lot of fantastic tracks.
I’m looking forward to LTE3 … And I guess a new DT album is in the works for this year as well …
I love LTE. Not a fan of Dream Theater’s stuff after the Images and Words album, unfortunately. Their lyrics were already awful to begin with but the vocal melodies just killed most of their songs for me after that album. I mean, don’t get me wrong, the singer can sing. I just like them more without a singer. It’s what happens when you compose vocals to fit the music and not the other way around. I think it was their former keyboardist who was holding it all together. But then the last album he was in sucked big time. What was it? Crimson Sunset or something?
Lyric wise, they’re like just a notch above Malmsteen but at least Malmsteen composes the vocal melodies first and adds his solos around them.
But his fucking lyrics…
"There’s a hole in the sky
But don’t ask me why
Cos I don’t know"
- Malmsteen - As Above, So Below
What the FUCK does this even mean LOL.
Probably some deep musings about the depletion of the ozone layer
