Not Run to the Hills? The actual fuck.

Wasted Years is pretty high on my list of underrated Maiden gems though, to be fair.

Been very into power metal lately and just discovered Floor Jansen-era Nightwish. Jesus. Video below is live from Wacken 2013. I’d be impressed if this was a studio recording, but live is ridiculous.

run to the hills iirc was in the finale set but they closed out the show with Wasted Years … I was pretty stoked - that was a fucking great show man - they opened with Ghost

But he was Satriani’s best student!

Yeah, he was great at ripping off some of his runs and turning them into repetitive hammer on wankfests.

I’ll grant him this…

He had 2 good solos:

1 was in 4 Horsemen, where he somehow managed to slip in some semi-retarded variation of Jimmy Page’s Good Times Bad TImes solos and then proceeded to go on his usual wanking.

The other was in The Unforgiven. That was legitimately good.

Do it! Would love to hear it.

Nope, but it’s pretty good. TBH, I don’t really follow most bands other than some major ones like Led Zep and The Clash. Just know assorted songs from recommendations from friends over the years.

I have to agree when it comes to metal/rock singing. But Bach is on an entirely different level than Bruce when it comes to actual singing. Not that Bach is even remotely comparable to real Broadway singers like Colm Wilkinson, of course.

When Marty Friedman decides to do a cover of a song from my fucking favorite non-Western artiste of all time…

He’s a Taiwanese dude named Jay Chou for anyone interested.

Hong Kong chick decided to also do a rock cover of another Jay Chou song with one of the greatest ā€œunintentionally funny when translated into Englishā€ verses of all time:

ā€œLove is like a gust of wind. It blows. Then it leavesā€¦ā€

Agreed.

Then she decides to a rap cover of an acapella song by a Taiwanese rock band with some avant garde electric cellist who doesn’t seem to like wearing clothes.

This is the shit that causes real, non-stop hard-ons.

Saw that tour. Too bad Tailgunner wasn’t in the setlist

Exactly my thoughts… The guitar in the original was the voice. So emotive

Yeah, you know what I’m talking about! I’ve never heard a single good Hendrix cover other than from SRV.

Hendrix’s guitar playing was always his ā€œrealā€ voice IMHO. These solos were works of perfection:

Where did all the good, emotive guitar playing go?

Last really good one I’ve heard was from Satriani:

I’ve not given 2 shits about any ā€œnewā€ guitarists after Satch other than Nuno. No one seems to have their own voice. It’s all just shred, shred, shred. Nuno has the skill. He just doesn’t do it.:

(I mean, Petrucci and his cohort of ā€œvirtuososā€ have their own style of composition and I fucking love Pertucci, but I’m talking about the playing here.)

Jeff Beck comes to mind

We’ve gonna be best friends lol.

Dude did this in his 70s!:

No one has ever had the balls to try to cover this;

(Yes I know it’s a cover of a song written by Stevie Wonder)

Beck’s finest moment live IMHO:

Not a big fan of Extreme. Just an example of Nuno’s skill and also how you can easily tell it’s Nuno playing just from his phrasing alone:

Just finished Robert Plant’s book. Beck is mentioned a few times
