Tune of the day (new day)

It should be noted there are multiple different styles of singing. Being able to traditionally hold a note and/or push past certain frequencies with passion isn’t going to help you belt out a death growl.

Many don’t like the sound of screaming/growling and therefore equate it to being talentless. This couldn’t be further from the truth, try emulate death metal vocals. If you can actually get it down, chances are you won’t be able to sustain it for more than a few seconds.

That Adele cover rocks btw, absolutely riveting.

It’ll probably destroy your vocal chords if you’re really ā€œsingingā€ like the way the late Death vocalist did. The dudes in Cannibal Corpse and Napalm Death are like doing ā€œmumble growlingā€ so they’re gonna be fine lol.

I remember Jason Newstead telling Lukas(the dude in the Adele cover vid) to lay off the growling(throat singing) cos James Hetfield nearly destroyed his which is why he’s actually singing in their later albums. Probably why the dude also went to learn how to really sing.

This was him after Rockstar Supernova:

I remember this guy so well because I was telling everyone he was the only one who could really sing out of all the contestants but he was holding back his real vocal prowess. The others were just yelling in tune. Dude proved me right here.

I have no idea what that means lol.

Jack Black seriously needs more credit as a singer.

Should have sang in a higher key but still a fitting Dio tribute.

Architects: all our gods have aBLEGHdoned us

Someday an IT nerd somewhere will invent a Megadeth de-vocalizer app and I’ll be forever grateful to him.

You think I’m joking? Someone did something similar for Glenn Gould but it sucked:

(Of course I’m fucking joking.)

Seriously, Mustaine isn’t a bad singer. He just sounds too much like Bart Simpson.

Don’t know what genre this strictly falls under (drum and bass metal?) but I’ll leave it here anyway

I suppose you could call this as it is a metal/drum and bass fusion… but I’d call it ā€œalt metalā€ (alternative metal)

In flames was a swedish melodic death metal band. They’re considered to be pioneers of melodic death metal. In flames, dark tranquility, at the gates and soilwork all come to mind as bands that popularised the melodic death metal genre.

As time went by, in flames changed their sound both as a means for experimentation and to try cater towards a larger audience. As a result the band started incorporating more of an alternative sound and over time the band dropped the melodic death metal sound entirely. In my opinion the first album absent of death metal influence was probably a sense of purpose

The band further catered towards an alternative metal/rock sound… up until their most recent release ā€œI, the maskā€. It still isn’t melodic death metal and I doubt the band will ever cater towards that sound again, but it certainly isn’t mainstream

The collaboration with pendulum was in 2010. After In Flames dropped the death metal inspired sound but before they went mainstream

Should be noted, while in flames flirted with alternative rock/a more mainstream sound, dark tranquility and at the gates didn’t. Soilwork briefly altered their sound during the popularity of metalcore in the 2000s/2010s but have since returned to their melodic death metal roots.

Really the only reason I’ve never gotten into Megadeath … I really can’t stand his vocals … and that’s saying something - I like DreamTheater

I would love to hear what Metallica would have sounded like if they had dropped their unbelievably, indescribably horrific lead guitarist and put in Friedman instead.

Stop lying to yourselves, Metallica fanboys. Kirk Hammett sucks bigtime and you know it. There’s a reason why Hetfield would always state ā€œall guitar harmoniesā€ were by him in every fucking song and made sure to let everyone know it was him who played the solo whenever he did so in any song.

Who the fuck would want Kirk Hammett taking credit for his solo when any half decent guitar player knows how bad Kirk sucks?

Online acquaintanceship TERMINATED!!!

HoW cOuLd YoU insult such a legendary icon!!! Just kidding, I don’t have an opinion one way or the other about him.

I wouldn’t go so far as to say he sucks bigtime. He’s by no means the pinnacle soloist; he’s serviceable at worst imo

this is coming from a passive Metallica fan

Edge of sanity is somewhat similar to Opeth in the way it fuses death metal with progressive rock

I see them both on equal ground, mostly because Bruce is better live than in the studio, whereas Bach loses some power live but is still great. My dream cover-band gig would be either Skid Row or Iron Maiden. Wasted Time and Wasted Years are great. If I can find a mic in my house that doesn’t fart out when I sing Wasted Years I’ll try and get a cover video recorded soon.

Ever heard this one?

I was in a band that used to cover it and we always opened with it because it just explodes into that first verse. Killer song and album overall, the production was WAY ahead of its time.
