I think the closest comparative band to three days grace is saint asonia
The old vocalist from three days grace is now the vocalist for saint asonia
A comparison to billy talent might be the offspring and/or rise against for the more aggressive content.
I am just a big fan of those 2 Canadian bands.
And I real don’t like Saint Asonia all that much.
Three days grace is amazing, as is billy talent. TDG was my main jam before middle school (a looooong time ago).
I still listen to them regularly. My favourite songs from them are “on my own”, “home”, “break” and “happiness”
Even before TDG I had an MP3 player consisting of songs from Linkin Park, Disturbed and Breaking Benjamin (ages 6-10). I’d figured out how to download songs and put them on as my parents understandably at the time wouldn’t have wanted me listening to that kind of music.
They were NOT happy the first time they heard “giving up”
I think I was around 11-12 when I developed a taste for the heavier music.
Forgive me if I missed it but I don’t think I saw any links to my 3 favorite bands (and pretty much the only 3 in the genre I listen to)
Moving today, and getting in the spirit for the new (much larger) garage gym with some heavy slams
When I was giving them a listen, I saw that album cover (cool cover BTW), and recognized it from your profile.
Polaris might have been linked by me, I’ve certainly put up Polaris before, they’re amazing!
@marine77 are you into any specific sub genres aside from death/black metal?
Thrash? Doom metal? Metalcore? I have a penchant for thrash metal, groove metal, hardcore punk (metalcore/hardcore punk somewhat overlap as metalcore is a fusion between metal/hardcore) and melodic death metal
Was listening to this. Love the music but the lyrics and vocals are hilarious.
I mean, no offense death or “whatever metal this is called fans”, but “harmonized growling” just tickles me to no end.
Old thrash… Testament, Slayer
Doom - Sleep
Hardcore - Agnostic Front, SOIA
Opeth, Morbid Angel , High on Fire, Goatwhore , Acid Bath , Danzig , Samhain , Immolation
That’s a great Maiden cover.
2 that were better than the originals IMHO:
^only because Sebastian Bach is like 10x the singer Bruce could ever be. Maiden fans don’t get your panties in a bunch. I only listen to Skid Row because of him. Shit I don’t even like Skid Row.
Seriously, don’t tell me this isn’t some of the greatest singing you’ve ever heard in the genre or I will hunt you down and shove a Justin Bieber CD up your ass:
I actually haven’t heard of this one! I’ll check it out
If you HOF you might like stoned Jesus. Similar style, albeit with a more “doomy” vibe. It is a stoner(ish) type band, but as is high on fire, it’s even in the name.
I really like high on fire, this music video in particuar is fantastic
Another similar(ish) band is king gizzard and the lizard wizard. Aussie band, they’re EXTEREMELY experimental and release a few albums per year (yes.. per year). Some of the content had metal influence, eventually they quasi suprised released a thrash metal album called “infest the rats nest”, also similar(ish) vibe.
I sublaxed my shoulder within a mosh pit to this song #noragrets
Should be noted the music videos for the black plot and planet b, particuarly the latter contain violence and may thus be considered NSFW.
“A pale horse named death” is a decent doom/gothic metal band. Not very hardcore though, vocals are typically clean.
Otherwise draconian is amazing, a combination between death/doom metal.
Look for 2 Skid Row songs on youtube and i get a dozen the next day…
Dammit Skid Row didn’t deserve a singer of this guy’s calibre. The guitar playing’s a fucking joke. Fuck, if I were the guitarist, I wouldn’t even dare release this song.
