Morbid Angel - Day of Suffering , Rapture
Cannibal Corpse - Crucifier Avenged
S.O.D. - March of the SOD , Sgt D
Darkthrone - Cromlech
Napalm Death - Siege of Power
Carcass - Buried Dreams
Check this out
Lamb of god did a really good cover of this under their alternate/original title āburn the priestā
I have a āreign in bloodā CD for my car
I tend to be really into thrash/crossover, punk, melodic death metal and⦠metalcore (no place for elitism⦠metalcore is metal dammit)
So
- sodom
- heathen
- dark tranquility
- soilwork
- municipal waste
- toxic holocaust
- sum 41 (yup)
- while she sleeps (aside from their newest album)
- parasite inc
- lamb of god
- annihilator
Are all fantastic for me
As to flat out death metal, my tastes are fairly old school
- six feet under (only a few songs, otherwise theyāre not great)
- orbituary
- cannibal corpse
- opeth (is this death metal? Kinda has some death metal vibes)
- insomnium
- draconian
- deicide
- cattle decapitation
Not a fan of the graphic imagery on many covers though. The music video for cattle decapitations āforced gender reassignmentā is quite graphic, albeit somewhat tongue in cheek (I think)
Alright all you prog/power metal nerds; why didnāt any of you dorks tell me how awesome Unleash the Archers is:
This song was some playlist YT music suggested (Jinjer playlist w/ Gojira, Lamb of God, etc.):
already listened to their albums Apex and Abyss ⦠fuckinā love 'em.
I get a bit Rush, a bit Iron Maiden, a bit Dream Theater ⦠fun fuckinā metal man
This sounds like my kind of evening. Although Iām only just getting into Dream Theatre. Seems to be a bit of a slow burn thing, not a love affair.
The first DT song I heard was Pull Me Under; then I listened to the entire Images and Words album and couldnāt get enough. My 3 favorite songs off that album are Take The Time, Under the Glass Moon, and Metropolis part 1 - but really not a weak song on that album.
The only album of theirs I havenāt listened to was their first ⦠I find something to like on pretty much all of their studio stuff.
Great trad metal tune, that just make me break out a silly grin and plenty of head nodding* everytime.
(* the older metalheads version of headbanging):
Iāve downloaded Images and Words onto my Spotify so I can listen to it in the car. I just keep getting distracted by old not-shiny things.
Iāll have to check them out. I like Lamb of God, and just heard Gojira a couple days ago. I saw the live version of The Art of Dying song on YT, and was pretty impressed. I am a big fan of bands with good drumming, and they check that box (so does Lamb of God).
Modern power metal is another fun one. Itās like a club DJ and a metal band did a bunch of coke together and wrote some music.
Lots of vocal talent and cheesy as hell. Fun to listen to.
I actually hadnāt listened to any Lamb of God in like 10 years before Memento Mori jumped on that playlist. Fuck is it good. Theyāre also on my deep dive list after hearing that track, but Unleash the Archers just got my attention first.
I like Gojira - they have some really groovy shit. Interesting sound - been listening to them here and there for a few years ⦠donāt listen to them consistently or often, but enough to know I like the cut of their jib
Opeth are brilliant. Love them. Earlier Opeth was dm but they have been progressively prog / folk. Deliverance is possibly the GOAT
Gojira is bad ass. Stranded is killer
Quoted for truth. Also check out Plini, Polyphia, vitalism, berried alive, Chon, intervals and sithu aye
I havenāt heard of most of these. Thanks.
Listening to Death today. Never gave them a chance as it is pretty old stuff (music from 1987-98 or something). I have to say they were ahead of their time. Pretty solid instrumental work. I figured @unreal24278 might want to chime in with some song recommendations on this band.
