Healthy Sloppy Joes and Spaghetti

Being that sloppy joes and spaghetti sauce is mostly tomatoes, and I have access to tomato sauce (my mom cans gallons of it), is there any way I could make healthy, low carb sauces? I assume that tomatoes are low calory.

Depends on how you make it. According to the USDA Food Data (btw, you should bookmark this site: Food and Nutrition Information Center (FNIC) | National Agricultural Library cgi-bin/nut_search.pl) 1 medium tomato has ~ 5.7 grams of carbs. Now you have to figure out how you are gonna make the sauce (what you will mix in, how cooked, etc.).

It depends on what your mom puts into the sauce to begin with. Also , if you are going to eat pasta and hamburger buns, it won’t make that much of a difference anyways.

As far as I know, my mom doesn’t put anything in the canned tomato sauce, she fucks with it later. So my question would be what spices could I add to pure tomato sauce? And ko, sorry, I forgot to say that I don’t eat it with buns or pasta, just strait out of the can.

Saute some onions and garlic, then add your tomato sauce. bring to a boil, then reduce to a simmer and add all or any combination of the following(I highly reccomend the first three): oregano, bayleaf, thyme, basil, parsley and chili flake. Let it simmer for about 10-15 minutes. You could then add it to cooked hamburger, chicken, or even canned tuna.
