Denial of it’s existence? I think I get it lol.
So many people I know that did not have any outs or security had to get whatever they could find, and a lot of them worked for 3+years next to high school graduates.
it was really bad. I still feel that anxiety creep up any time someone says anything about an economic downturn .
What is that phrase the kids say nowadays that i like so much?
Oh, it’s:
Hold my beer.
Fixed
Because the corporations and liberals have brainwashed them, ofc.
Funny thing is, my entire family barely felt the recession. One of the very few perks of being at the bottom of the earning ladder.
If you ever want to find the people who are going to be alright in a recession, find the people who spent significant time being poor AF. If those people work their way out, you can bet your ass they aren’t going back.
The principles that allow someone to live for 15-20k a year can be applied to anyone with a job.
personal experience has everything to do with this thread, considering 100% of your argument has been based on personal observation and experience. You can’t post on a public forum about your experiences that have led to your world view and not expect others to do the same.
Also, this is a fucking weightlifting forum. Yes, I talk about weight lifting accomplishments. I also happen to have an extensive log on here which I treat as a sort of blog, in which I don’t just talk about strictly lifting stuff, I expand it to include my experiences outside the gym as I see fit.
Also keep in mind that this thread originated as a conversation specifically about social experiences related to women. Everything I’ve said about myself has been something relating back to that.
because I don’t agree with the ‘women have shifted the other way’ part. I told you that.
I’m disagreeing with the things you say that I disagree with. It’s not like I’m going to take a stand that everything you say is wrong arbitrarily. You’re just a person like any other. You’ll say some things that I agree with, some I disagree with. That’s not strange.
I think I’m more or less what the typical American WANTS to be. Not what the typical American actually is. I’m in the top 1% in terms of intelligence, I’m one of the most accomplished lightweight strongman athletes in the world, not just America, I’m earning more money that the vast majority of people. I clearly don’t LOOK like most American men. How many men, anywhere, do you think there are that walk around at 200 lbs, under 10 % bodyfat? That’s suddenly a typical American thing now? I thought typical Americans were obese bald accountants, lol.
redundant phrasing. just saiyan
Absolute truth.
I spent 2 years in South America. I saw people live better on a 20k salary than some bonehead friends I know making 70k in the states.
Reasonable, all reasonable.
I guess my issue is the fact that you’re looking at these issues from the lense of a guy that came out on top eventually. You said it yourself, you’re a 1 percenter in a lot of ways, that doesn’t apply to most people.
And its a lot of what @BrickHead and I have been saying, the distribution is off. Maybe we are totally fucking wrong about this, but we’ll start to see if the statistics back it up in a few years.

This guy? Please be this guy.
Edit: Fwiw, I first attempted to splice goku’s powerup onto flip’s profile pic, but goddamn does tnation store those pics in a small format. Holy space saving batman.
I actually get picked on a tad at work for it sometimes haha. I make pot roasts, chilis, soups, etc (mostly ‘poor people’ food, they haven’t said that ofc, just explaining the types of food), buy my rice in bulk from Costco and eat a couple cups a day, etcetc.
But I’m not goin back to the fuckin hills. Not. Doin. It.
It’s a different communication form and pattern that you aren’t familiar with.
What you hear as chest thumping and bragadocio, others hear as “This is what worked for me, here’s how you can do it too.”.
Interesting thing, that self help and self improvement- When people familiar with it are told that they need to up their game, they say “Ok. Show me how.”.
On the other hand, when we’ve said “You need to up your game” you respond with “they need to lower their standards.”.
That’s pretty fucking weak.
Edit: Later. Off to a meeting!
I love how @greenboy originally responded to what I said. Does that mean I’m the one responsible for providing you guys with all of this entertainment? Greenboy, no offense to you. I genuinely haven’t read a single post of anybody’s since I’ve checked on this thread a week ago.
No, what is pretty fucking weak is that I’m not talking about myself, therefore there’s no need for it, as I’ve said ad nauseum. But since without a straw man a lot of you cannot put together a compelling sentence we continue going in circles.
It was entertaining at first but now it’s tiresome. There’s nothing else we can really do in this thread at this point.
This thread is gold and the title cracks me up every time I see it.
No, turns out the initial post that made me come into the thread was done by @Basement_Gainz
Mr. Money Mustache? Is that you?
@greenboy
I think you and I are on the same page. We’re both fine personally but see degenerative trends and forces and are thinking outside of ourselves, thinking about the well-being or other men that is. I also often think of what kind of world I’m bringing my children into.
What I do to deal with it is spend time with my great friends, who truly care for me and have been there when I needed them and my family, all of whole often go above and beyond! I’ve even had and have truly caring co-workers. I moved from the boroughs of NYC for the quiet suburbs of Long Island. I love it here. I even started going to church on holidays and Sundays with my Catholic wife (I’m Jewish). My son was baptized and will be raised Catholic. I simply want a healthy, sane environment for the family. I’m going to send my kids for pre-STEM summer camp up the road, amongst other things to set them up and see what their talents are.
I don’t want to give advice but I only say this as a way to deal with what’s out there. I don’t think that there are no decent women of all socioeconomic statuses at all out there, and the online communities often push that unhealthy notion. There is still a decent amount of good women out there who aren’t shooting for the moon. You don’t need to get one but having a family is a great reliever for all the crap out there.
By the way, I’ve met @flipcollar and spent more than half a day with him. He’s a good, modest guy, and totally reasonable, open to various opinions, and likely would help someone out if he could. He’s not condescending at all.
Yeah, we are.
My tone is what probably sets most people off, I’m an aggressive speaker, always in that “locker room” mode of talk but it that is the environment I’ve been in a lot of my life. It is a crazy balancing act if I’m around women at work, I almost don’t speak lol.
You know when you mentioned that story about the fathers you ran into in your life I was almost going to tell my own recollection. A friend of mine at the time was dating a jewish girl, and the father was also jewish…
My friend at the time was a hard nosed New Yorker, real brash, and the girl and him fought horrible fights, and the kid had absolutely no respect for the girl (she didn’t for him either but anyways) the kid would openly bang the girl in her own home, with the father there! and the damn father knew and the kid made sure he knew. He’d also be in a fight with the girl, and the father would say something and he’d tell the father to fuck off, or the wife to fuck off … I was stunned by these stories he would tell me. I would look him in the face and say dude if that was my daughter, If I were that guy I’d throw your stupid ass against the wall and beat the shit out of you. It was unreal.
But yeah I’m sure @flipcollar and most of the people here are good people, we’re all a little different IRL. From the pics I’ve seen @flipcollar and I have the same physique, only that I’m far bulkier right now and carrying a bit of weight with more muscle mass. I’m shooting for that leanness tho, would love to get to 180lb… oh and if I grew my hair out we’d both have the same hair lol, or lack there of.
Your observations, no?
Polo asked you for verifiable/falsifiable/external data repeatedly, and you kept it at your own personal observations
brick has provided some. And if you want me to start linking to articles, youtube debates, etc etc, I mean we can. We can do that.
But what is the point? no one will actually look into it or it will be brushed off as redpill nonsense. Brick pointed out Jordan Peterson, I know he’s a hot rod for the left and a lot of people hate him but he’s resonating with a lot of young men. Does that count? He is a clinical psychologist
I’m just trying to show you that what you are getting out of this is highly correlated with what you put in. You and Brick are different people
There’s only one way to find out
Fwiw, you might be projecting again
Then again, even if you are projecting, doesn’t mean it wouldn’t accurately predict the result
