Pretty much every people I’ve met who went to the US said the food was garbage, unless you’re eating out and it’s ok
Is this per capita? Not picking holes, just genuinely interested.
I think this is pretty debatable to be honest. As a non-American, the only conversations I’ve had about your cuisine is about the quantity, not the quality. And never the steak.
Way ahead of you there. I’m the last person to lecture anyone on goal oriented behavior, but do you have a goal weight/measurement right now? Writing it down and putting it somewhere you see it daily makes it more compelling.
Do you use my fitness pal or another calorie tracker with a food scale? If you do that for one really hard cut it makes for a nice reality check when you go back to eating maintenance.
Good luck.
The yinzer brown bag lunch holy trinity. You forgot the snyder’s bbq chips.
Nope in total.
Of Berlin! I’m staunchly in the sour cream and onion camp.
Unless it’s chipped ham. Then BBQ is the best.
Edit to add: Me, the Kiddo, and my buddy were right out your way all day. Thought about giving a holler, but didn’t want to spring that on you without any forethought or planning. Caught a butt load of Bluegill and the kiddo (and us big ones) had a good time.
Ah man. Shame we missed you. My kid insists on eating the bluegill he catches. They’re not very filling lol.
Got the privelidge of rebuilding the chicken coops today. I hate chicken wire.
We’ll be back out in the next couple of weeks. No idea how many we caught, high double digits, but some were pretty good hand full too. Kiddo’casting is downright dangerous, but he’s getting good at bringing them in!
I’ll give you a holler a couple days in advance next time.
You have a couple of roosters? I could use a nice red cape and saddle! (I’d piss those chickens right the hell off with my fly tying habit)
You can chum the water with the mean rooster.
Yeah, very rare do you get someone that comes back saying it was good stuff. Mostly its complaints.
I think @EmilyQ has a very tainted view of her own country, but I love being told that I’m the one that doesn’t get out much, meanwhile I’ve actually lived in multiple countries for long periods of time.
Anyhow, I think you can eat really well in the States but it’s going to cost you, and cost you a lot. There’s some amazing restaurants in NYC you can’t even debate that but it’s reserved for the very well off.
Your average American dining absolutely fucking sucks. It’s even worse if you want to eat somewhat healthy at a reasonable price.
And to answer your first jab @EmilyQ, most adults I know do not go out much. Yes, drive to the beach, I’m sure you’ll see plenty of 20 year olds and 60 year olds. But where’s the in-between? I don’t see that. Most of my friends are either married and occupied with children stuff, or they work too much to the point they are too exhausted to do anything, especially the men.
The only time the people I know, both men and women, want to do anything is either to sit at a stupid sports bar, or go for brunch for an hour. That’s about it. That’s all they do during the day.
Night life? Yeah, I have some socially active friends but it’s usually work related because they’re really high up in their companies and constantly travel back and forth between NYC, Miami, Chicago, San Fran, doing "socials’ or whatever the fuck they call it.
EDIT> but I will say there is a subsection of my social group that does the boat thing… maybe I should buy a small boat.
Heh, I think I rather just leave the States again.
Dude, are you trying to turn on the pretense after getting caught with your foot in your mouth?
Cuz that’s what that looks like.
I’m sorry? what?
X2
The only positives I’ve heard were about quantity, certainly not quality.
I actually loved eating in the states, but I’m in a very small minority from my observations.
I promise they go out and do things. Just like I do with my children pretty consistently, just like most parents who aren’t struggling financially.
You just don’t see it because obviously they’re not going to invite you lol. Because duh.
It’s tricky. There are little hidden gems all over the place. I went to a little farmers market/restaurant yesterday and got a typical Italian hoagie (baked sub). That’s my own little acid test for places because when they’re good, great. When they’re cheap on ingredients- crap.
First bite- big wow. Fresh basil and oregano tossed in throughout the mixed greens, fresh baked bun, high quality ingredients, it really couldn’t have been better, for $8.00.
The chain places are junk though.
I’d say that there is a lot of really good food if you know where to look, a good bit of typical crap, and I’ve never actually done any real fine dining so that’s out of my realm.
I’ve never actually heard a local who’s explored the area they live in say “man all the food around here is shit.”
American cuisine is amazing without breaking the bank if you know where to eat. Ofc visiting foreigners (and obviously GB) don’t know where to get good eats.
We have a food wholesale/distribution district that you can’t make it through two blocks without grabbing something awesome. One bakery does these breakfast and pepperoni rolls straight out of the oven, into your hands that I swear are made with real manna. Next block, tacos, next block calamari, etc.
It’s just not fair. Anybody on a diet stands no chance. And they aren’t even really restaurants.
Could you just sack up and give us the general region of the country you live in? I said it like 1000 posts ago but your viewpoint would be more understandable if you live in the hills of Montana or some shit.
Damn right he does. He realized to pull that level of attractive he needed to bring tens of millions to the table.
He gives hope to divorced fat guys everywhere. Just need to be worth millions and it’s cake.
