It will probably be worth your time to find a protein shake that doesn’t make you feel this way. Many people have that experience with whey iso/concentrate. Some people move more to hydrolysates, some use egg protein. There are other options. Even using a lactaid pill with a whey protein might work.
I think it’s important to have options that work for you, even if you rarely need to use them.

No doubt adding a supplement could possibly assist him, but he’s not preparing for an IBFF show is he?

As I mentioned in your other thread, you seem to be under the impression that increases in bodyweight “just happen” as you get stronger. That’s entirely incorrect. You’ll never, ever, never, never gain bodyweight if you don’t eat enough. That means ample calories, every single day.
And, as I said in that thread, you lost a pound over the course of three months, but you still have hopes of gaining muscular bodyweight even though I don’t see any mention of your nutrition plan. Can you tell me what, exactly, you ate yesterday? (Actually, crap, for the first time ever, yesterday doesn’t count. Kinda screws up the saying. So, um, what exactly did you eat Friday?)
Somebody your age, height, and weight could gain seven pounds of muscular bodyweight in just a few months… if they ate right while training hard.
Anyone who squats more than double-bodyweight at age 16 while being nearly 6-feet tall and around 150 is probably at least slightly genetically gifted. Or they’re squatting way high. Or they’ve got overly-helpful spotters. Or they’re telling tall tales.
Based on your own assessment, I disagree with that last part.

GREAT progress
No way of knowing how soon any one person can reach a goal
Just break that goal into smaller chunks and try to hit those small goals in time without injury
At 160lbs you might want to really focus hard on your nutrition
Slowly add carbs to your macro ratio
I like 45% carbs, 35% protein, 20% fat but to each their own; this will take some experimentation
Increase everything slowly. If you’re not growing you’re not eating enough
I prefer bulking to get to my end goal
I shoot for 1lb minimum each week and go until I feel I am gaining too much fat…I don’t go into a caloric deficit to shed…I just drop my cals and carbs back a bit and keep training until I hit a composition I like
Much of this is still a theory tho…I am NOT an accomplished builder yet.
I went from a fat(ish) 176lbs to a ripped 156lbs to my current 182lbs, not ripped / not fat
