Your lifting surely makes your day job much easier.
Great work GV. I know I wouldn’t be worth a shit lifting if I worked a physical job all day.
biker: I think of it as cross training-work and then lifting.
Dave: Yeah, the challenge is daunting sometimes.
Lifting went well tonight. I have decided to adopt a Fred Hatfield template and modified it just slightly because I began it 5 weeks from the meet and it is a 12 week program.
Bench Press:
135 x 10
185 x 5
225 x 1
280 x 3 sets x 2 reps
Slingshot Bench Press:
315 lbs x 1
Squats:(raw)
135 x 10
225 x 5
315 x 1
498 lbs x 5 sets x 1 rep
Standing Crunches:
80 lbs x 20
I was supposed to do 2 reps on the squat sets but my back wasn’t having it so I settled on 1 rep for tonight. Benches went well.
I’m predicting big numbers in 5 weeks. Best -Paul
Thanks OG(Paul).
Lifting today was simple and fast.
Semi-sumo Deadlifts:
135 x 5
225 x 3
315 x 3
405 x 3
503 lbs x 3 sets x 1 rep
Conventional deads:
405 x 4
100 foot Farmer’s Carries:
65 lbs thick handle dumbbells x 2 sets
The semi-sumo deads felt strong and if I can get used to them I may be stronger with these than conventional.
Quick lifting this evening:
Fat Gripz Extreme CG Bench Press:
135 x 10
185 x 5
225 x 1(pause)
265 x 1(pause)
291 x 1(pause)
Glad I got the 291 close grip because my body has been beat up since doing deads yesterday. Happy to have my weight up to 215 lbs this morning and I attribute this to eating more peanut butter and jelly sandwiches.
Are you considering pulling semi-sumo at the meet GV?
Dave, yeah if my training with the semi-sumo deads continues to go well I may use that stance at the meet. I sent in my check and forms yesterday so I’m locked in for the Last Chance Raw United meet on Saturday, December 12. I don’t know if anyone recalls but the Raw United president and I came up with the meet last year for those of us who couldn’t make earlier meets and wanted to have one last contest to finish the year.
Training went well today. I was so mellow before and during my lifting I didn’t know how it was going to go but it all worked out nicely.
Squats:(knee sleeves-raw-comp prep begins)
135 x 10
225 x 5
315 x 1
405 x 1(put on my belt)
495 x 1(belt)
552 x 3 sets x 1 rep(belt)
Walk out and 1/2 Squats:
725 lbs x 3 reps
Fat Gripz Extremes Bench Press:
135 x 10
185 x 5
225 x 2(paused)
252 x 5 sets x 2(paused)
Standing Crunches:
80 lbs x 20
Have to say that a couple hours later I am feeling a bit crushed and beat up from the lifting but all is good and it feels like I did good damage.
Walk out and 1/2 Squats:
725 lbs x 3 reps
Yeah, I would guess that 725 pounds would beat up the body just a little bit.
Biker-Is that a question or a comment?
Crippler-Oh man, today, a day later, I began feeling like I was zoned out and the body fatigue was sky-high. Some points of exhaustion after work felt like I was on a serious trip into a twilight fugue state. Now that’s good DOMS.
Walk out and 1/2 Squats:
725 lbs x 3 reps
I think that says it all. No other comment comes close.
Okay biker thanks. After taking a couple grams of tumeric I’m starting to feel better this morning and oh yeah I have been doing hours of therapy while watching TV at night before bed. Recovery is fun and I love watching Fargo and Gotham.
You got me curious. No way though I want to touch anything close to 700 pounds.
“Just for the record that was only a walk out and three reps with 725 lbs for half squats”
It’s no less impressive. ^Crippler56.
I can’t even imagine. I was thinking of only 600 plus, and walking out first. I want to see what it feels like. Even a half squat at 725 is crazy.
Crippler-I have to say it was a doozy but it felt awesome to move. This Hatfield program I’m running calls for going 120% with the squat or bench on certain days for overload reps such as 1/2 squats. I suppose it’s conditioning for the heavier lifts at the meet and increasing strength in areas of a lift.
Tonight the lifting went well.
Fat Gripz Extremes Bench Press:
135 x 10
185 x 5
225 x 1(pause)
255 x 1(pause)
292 x 1(touch and go/I was worn out in my shoulders and chest/wanted the pause but just glad to get it clean)
Semi-sumo Deadlifts:
225 x 5
315 x 1
451 x 5(My right arm, previously torn biceps, was aching in the area of my operation from years ago so I switched stances)
Conventional Deadlifts:
451 lbs x 2 sets x 5 reps
Standing Crunches:
80 lbs x 20
I was supposed to do 5 sets of 5 reps with the 451 lbs on the deads but my oomph fizzled out after the 3rd set so I called it a night. Maybe I’ll be stronger next time.
