Hardcore Essentials2

Thank you NHLFTR. Sorry to read your wife had those falls, the possibility of injury is humbling. I suppose it was my ass that saved me.
Haven’t lifted yesterday and today because I had to take my mom to the hospital for surgery and today is the anniversary of my uterine emergence.

Uterine emergence. Well, have a good birthday.

Thanks biker. Seems that today while working or perhaps it’s from something that happened the day before I didn’t recognize I somehow injured my right leg. For most of the day at work I have felt incredible strain in my right ankle, calf, and knee. So, my lifting plans for tonight were scrapped and much therapy is to be done so I can lift tomorrow.

It’s been a difficult week for me. Had to take care of my mom after serious surgery and was dealing with two children with a stomach virus. To top off the wonderful week my wife and I both contracted the stomach virus Wednesday and Thursday we were throwing up and feeling like soreness, dizziness, and feeling beat up and tired were taking over our bodies. Today has been another day of stomach pain and malaise. I haven’t been able to lift in almost a week and that is eating me up. Work has been torturous. The fun, the fun. Hopefully tomorrow I can feel sorta normal and lift again.

Sorry about the tough week GV. Hope your Mom is recovering and your household shakes off the bug.

Thanks Dave. I felt decent today although a bit worn out from the ravages of the virus. So, I decided to see how my strength was holding up after a week off and being sick. After a strong coffee I hit it hard and felt awesome for most of the lifting.

I was shocked to find that after loosing about 5 pounds due to my virus and having taken off nearly a week my strength was almost all there. As usual my bench will fall off a little after taking so many days off but it still felt pretty good all things considered. Happy to come back strong.

Happy belated birthday. It always seems like the shit hits the fan all at once. To better days!

All the best to you and your family GV.

That’s a strong session at full strength and super impressive coming back from being sick.

Thanks Snap, Crippler, and Dave. Rough times have me down to 205 lbs today which is at least a ten pound decrease from a week ago. I managed to lift last night but being extremely beat up from work, weight loss, and maybe previous heavy lifting had my performance at a very low level.

Getting though this was a killer because my work day was hot and intense. Better and cooler days are coming in a couple months.

Dayum GV, looks like it’s been a whirlwind for you. Happy belated birthday. Hope your mom and you family get feeling better.

GV- we share the same month and day but unfortunately for me I pre-date your emergence! Hope you enjoyed the day.

Thanks hawkcapt and OG. OG that’s pretty cool we share that day. So, work and heat have continually been kicking my ass and I haven’t been able to lift as much lately. Those factors and losing weight from the illness have decreased my bench a little so I am going to start benching more frequently. Tonight lifting went okay:

Happy with the squats tonight but wanted better on bench.

Work has been picking up and all the activity is kicking my butt. My kids are 5 and 2 and they have a ton of energy which = kicking my butt. So, I’m getting my ass kicked all around, ain’t life sweet.

Nice squats!

And littles will flat out wear you out!
I am convinced that they help keep you young but shorten your lifespan…

work picking up is a good thing! and the Iron work is always impressive…you wouldn’t want to squat for me in my upcoming meet would you?

Would love to sub for you on the squat OG. Been working my ass off and with family events as well as my five year old getting ready to start kindergarten life has been hectic with no sight of slowing down for about the next 15 years or so. By then I’ll have both girls in college and I may have time for a vacation with the wife. Forgot to write down my next to nothing lifting on Monday but I’m glad and thankful to have any time to lift right now.

Fast lifting of about 27 minutes total. I want to get heavy but I’m going to have to regroup and rebuild due to my lack of lifting lately. On the other hand I’ve been working 6-7 days a week and it’s hot as hell so I think my conditioning is pretty good. I’ve lost weight and I’m down to 205 lbs but hopefully I will start building back up this fall and winter.

So I guess I’m in a transition period. Maybe I need(ed) this lay off from hitting the iron hard so frequently and work is very intense. The 103 degrees, 100% humidity days are not ending and are keeping my body weight down. Lifted a little heavy tonight but I could tell the infrequency of my lifting is bringing my numbers down however I will not fret because this will change soon.

Squats were solid and deep and the benches were okay. Just doing maintenance lifting until I can reboot and get a handle on lifting more often again.
