Strong work my friend.
GV- whenever you post a squat video I am always impressed ( weights aside which are awesome) with how controlled and calm the lift looks…
Nice job working through the hot weather and still finding the energy and strength to get through real solid sessions.
Thanks Crippler. Thanks OG, squats are my most meditative lift and when I do them I am in ‘the zone’. I am the squat, I be the squat. Thanks Dave, the sun is the real power, it humbles me on a regular basis.
The sun is not humbling those poundages. Great work.
Thanks biker. Today I experience near heat exhaustion and right now I was planning to lift however I am having some cramping in various muscles around my body as well some slight trembling that I assume is from over exhaustion as a result of my work in the heat. I’m all in when I am doing a project as I was today and it was 95 degrees. Glad to have the work but I am making an executive decision to not lift tonight and wait for tomorrow when I hope to be recovered fully.
Wise decision. Doubt if anything productive would come out of session started with your body in that state of fatigue.
Finally able to train this evening after four hours of rest following work. The sun was beating my ass again today and I was still feeling the brutality of the last couple days but after recovering a bit and forcing myself I lifted.
Squat:(raw)
135 x 10
225 x 5
315 x 3
475 x 3(used belt)
Fat Gripz Bench Press:
135 x 10
185 x 5
225 x 3
275 x 3
Standing Crunches:
70 lbs x 20
I decided not to do deadlifts tonight because tomorrow is going to be a long day of running around. The weight moved nicely tonight, the squat felt light and benching was smooth. I may be revising my original plan to lift 6 days a week to more like 4 days a week during the summer because work is very demanding and it’s hotter than ever. Temps have been well above average and looking to remain that way for 3 or four more months.
You asked what I thought of MicroPa. I’ve always been fairly strong–though my best ever weights were at least 100-200 pounds less than what you’ve been posting-- and I’ve been using plazma ever since it came out. About a month after I started MicroPa I noticed I was using heavier weight. Not like 20 years ago but at least respectible enough to post on here. I’ve never used many supplements so I don’t have any comparisons to relate.
Plazma gets me through about any kind of workout, and I think the MicroPa lets me use heavier weights in the workout. I think that best explains it.
I am impressed with your and about 5 other guys’ posts on here. Working outside in that humidity and then lifting as you do, incredible. Keep up the good work and keep that family time. Kids grow up fast.
Thanks biker and good advice. I may give in and try the Micro-PA one of these days. Just finished lifting this afternoon and it was a standout day for me. I supposed resting yesterday after the hard day in the sun was beneficial especially since I was worn out from going with the family to Disney on Thursday. Lifting went like this today:
Squats:(Raw)
135 x 10
225 x 5
315 x 3
405 x 3
495 x 3(belt)
Bench Press:(Raw)
135 x 10
185 x 5
225 x 3
275 x 1
315 x 1(PR since 4 years ago!)
SL Deadlifts:
225 x 5
315 x 3
495 x 2(wanted 3 but I didn’t have it in me today)
Standing Crunches:
70 lbs x 20
This was all completed in an hour. I haven’t benched 315 lbs since I tore my biceps 4 years ago so today was special to me. I almost was emotional reflecting for a moment after I pressed the weight. It was great to me especially because I had no spot, I lifted it off myself, and I did a full bench press, full ROM. The battle to get back to 315 lbs on the bench has been a worthy one and I hope to keep making progress the next almost 2 months before I hope to compete again.
Congrats on the bench milestone GV. Lots of hard work to get back to this point.
If you got back to your bench milestone without a spotter, you don’t need some new supplement.
Thanks Dave and biker. Biker it is great to make progress and I’m always looking to make more so anything in that direction is a plus.
GV, congrats on the 3 plate bench. The physical and mental barriers we strive to overcome can be immense at times.
Hawkcapt, you’re very true sir and thank you. I know it’s Memorial Day but I worked and then went for a swim which took my energy to the depths of near sleepiness but after a coffee I lifted.
Front Squats:(Raw but using front squat harness)
161 x 10
251 x 5
341 x 3
CG Bench Press:
135 x 10
185 x 5
225 x 3
255 x 3
275 x 3
Sumo Deadlifts:
225 x 5
315 x 3
Standing Crunches:
70 lbs x 20
I decided to take an easy day on my back and legs with the emphasis and focus of backing off for my psoas which have been aching. Saturday’s lifting decimated my lower back and hip area however there were other factors such as lack of sleep following lifting that most likely was the cause in my aching. So, this was a quick 40 minutes of lifting that felt comfortable without much stress.
With all the heavy lifting you make look easy, MicroPa would probably make your videoed lifts look even more scary. Maybe try some Plazma before you tackle a demanding project at work; I think that stuff would really benefit guys with physically demanding jobs.
No sales pitch, just an observation. Keep up the great lifts.
GV I know I am late…sorry…But CONGRATS on the BP PR!! well done
Great job on the PR. It is always nice when you work toward something, and finally get it.
Good job getting your own bench back up. A friend of mine tore his right bicep 2 years ago and he is still struggling with BP and deads. And thanks for your suggestion to lighten up my DE day. I dropped down the weight tonight per your suggestion. It felt much better.
Thanks OG, biker, Crippler, and Ogre. I must admit that the lifting last Saturday nearly crippled me this week. I thought lifting Tuesday would be okay but it just added to my extreme DOMS. I even had some light internal bleeding that showed up in the pot(may be too much info). The lifting may have not been the only culprit for my stress because as you know my work can be quite taxing so anyway I am feeling better and ready to lift again, I think. The sun and the iron make for a good ass beating.
