Sounds like your training is reaping huge rewards. Congratulations! The goal of being a USAPL Raw Nats champ is a great one. Good luck! That is the path G1 followed, winning Raw Nats and then winning IPF World Classics.
Nice work GV. 600 is a monster squat.
Thank you everyone. Your support is great to have.
So, my mother in-law, sister in-law, and nephew all contracted the flu while I was at the meet last week. During the meet I was hocking up lung cookies but I felt good otherwise. My mother in-law and sister-in law had been baby sitting my kids so they were exposed to the illness but have not developed a full flu and are in fact doing pretty good now. I rushed home from a light work schedule to take care of my kids all last week and by Thursday I felt so achey and horrible with congestion and sick basically. I was going to only take a few days off from lifting but due to feeling like shit I have not lifted for 8 days. I am beginning to feel better now but I’m still pretty rough. Hopefully, I will be good for our Christmas Eve party and Christmas. This has been hell being to out-of-it to lift or do much else besides watch my kids.
The flu certainly seems to be making its way through the Over 35 section. Hope you feel better GV.
Thanks Dave.
Happy Holidays to you and your family. Pretty cool time of the year with a couple of little ones.
My whole family, including myself, has had it too.
Merry Christmas to you and your family.

Happy holidays to you and your family. I love the swings for warming up and for conditioning.
Thanks GV. I wish the same for you and your family. And I’m enjoyoing the swings.
Thanks NHLFTR. I have lost 12 pounds since I became sick over a week ago and I haven’t lifted since the my last meet. I am thirsting to get back to lifting but the bug is still in me a bit. Maybe tomorrow the tide will turn and I will lift. I hate feeling this way.

That’s quite a nasty bug you’ve got. Glad you’re on the mend.
Better to get it all out of your system before starting back. Hope you feel better GV.
Thanks guys. That’s my plan exactly, to wait until the illness is out me before returning to lifting. Today was my best day in almost 2 weeks and hopefully tomorrow the hacking will end.
I know a lot of people who have it. You should be plenty charged up when you get back.
Well, I am still getting stuffed up but I am feeling much better so I decided to get back to lifting today. It’s been a little over 2 weeks since I touched a weight. I decided to have a modest day and not go all out.
Squats:(raw)
135 x 10
225 x 5
315 x 3
405 x 1(belt)
Fat Gripz Extremes Bench Press:
135 x 10
185 x 5
225 x 1(pause)
I forgot to do crunches today. By the end of squats my legs and lower back were letting me know that 2 weeks off is too long and I’m feeling it now. Benches went fairly well. After losing 12 pounds and not lifting for so many days I felt that my strength will come back fairly quickly but I am not going to rush things. I plan on competing again around June or July so I have a months to build up again.
Nasty bug - glad to hear you are on the mend.
nice work and have a Happy New Year
Tonight I did another modest lifting but I have been less congested today than before. Everyday I get a little bit better. My back and legs felt much stronger tonight than last night so I didn’t use a belt for squats on the heavy set.
Squats:(raw)
135 x 10
225 x 5
315 x 3
410 x 1
Fat Gripz Extremes Close Grip Bench:
135 x 10
185 x 5
225 x 1(pause)
255 x 1(pause)
Standing Crunches:
70 lbs x 20
Felt very good lifting tonight and I think progress is forthcoming. Happy new year to all.
Good to read you’re feeling better every day. Thank you for the well wishes on my thread. I hope you and the family had a great Christmas and have a Happy New Years tonight.
Thanks NHLFTR. By the way I just noticed I am ranked 10th in the nation on the current Masters 40, 220 lbs and over-all ranking for 2014 in powerlifting on PowerliftingWatch. I’m ranked higher on the masters all time at 220 lbs. Next year I am going for a higher ranking.
