Didn’t realise u had a log on here big fella. Sounds like your quarantine set up isn’t the greatest?
It’s what I broke down and paid for. The gym was a lot cheaper and easier. Stuff is available in Nicaragua, but it’s all junk and expensive. So far only 6 45lb plates, which at $1 a lb is adding up.
Could be worse $5/kilo is cheap where I’m at. I’ve seen like people put 10L jugs of water on the ends of their bars. Space runs out quick
Weights are going for crazy money where I am. I bought bumpers at $1.60 / lb right at the beginning of corona, and that is a pretty fair price. People are selling used iron plates on craigslist for more than that now.
Space is my other problem. I don’t have much of that either, but the wife is really, really against me going to the gym again for now. It is probably going to get nuts here short term. The government controls all of the Covid test kits and will only test symptomatic people that have travelled recently or been in direct contact with someone that has travelled recently. They are insisting that there is no community spread, so they obviously can’t test regular people ini case they are proved wrong. There were 26k cases of pneumonia diagnosed last month, in a country of 6 million people. If a dozen ventilators exist in the country I would be surprised. Unofficially there are several hundred cases as of a few days ago, so by my calculations it’s going to get stupid by the 20th. I paid $180 for a garbage olympic bar, the bottom quality kind of thing you pick up at Play It Again Sports for next to nothing. I miss my equipment in the US. A couple of buddies are making use of my collection of equipment there.
Bumpers do not exist here, no one sells them anyway. I would probably have to arrange a container and ship them to get them here. And there’s no getting out right now. We’ve had 5 flights cancelled. Next date is June 5th, which has a similar likelihood of cancellation. My brother-in-law just got sent home to die (Cancer) and I can’t get out of Central America. My in-laws are both high risk for Covid, and not careful, so hopefully we get out before either of them catches it. I never expected travel to get so difficult so fast.
Gains are protective against Covid but still stay safe dude.
Friday 5/8
Crazy week, all off schedule. Had a wardrobe thing installed that I ordered a while ago. I know the guy needs the money, he works for a private school and they’re all closed here right now. So, wearing a mask in my own place all week and screwed up schedule. And, my brother-in-law died Wednesday morning. Cancer. The embassy informed me of a repatriation flight about 10 minutes after I got the news about the brother-in-law, and today we got seats on it officially.

Clean and Strict Press
Nope. Screwed around with 135, but essentially just trying to get things agreeable, but my wrists just aren’t cooperating. Everything felt wrong and I honestly have never had this happen before. I’m hoping it’s just residual effects from edema that is subsiding - doc wanted me to try Amlodipine and 10mg didn’t go over well.
Plate curls
25 x 8 x 4 sets.
Honestly just had to do SOMETHING, so this was it.
Just going to chime in here. My mom takes Amlodipine (the generic). If the pharmacy fills the script with the, what she calls “little pills” her legs will balloon up. But, if they fill it with the “big pills” the swelling goes down and she never has a problem with. This tells me the generics are definitely not created equal. Same script, same drug, same pharmacy apparently different manufacturers.
Interesting. I am certain only generic is avaikable here. I only agreed to try it because it’s a calcium channel blocker, and I was hoping for it to help reverse the years of calcium build up that I have pre-surgery.
Bought a stationary bike. Gotta condition and the gym is out. I’m too old to not include some cardio for my health. The seat doubles as a free prostate exam/hernia check, so the first go round was down standing. Gotta work that out, I want to treat it like interval. Not for fat burning, interval cardio is better for cardio conditioning in my experience.
Solid purchase. I like throwing on a YouTube vid or two or a tv show and spinning my legs briskly. Time flies by and then I’ve hit daily activity recommendations ez
